@ESontheimerLab
Lifelong RNA biologist with a lab full of CRISPR pros who are pro-CRISPR and pro-AntiCRISPR @RTI_UMassChan

Ok, so my amazing group (I presume!) foil-wrapped my entire office, and everything in it, to celebrate my just-announced promotion to professor.

MD/PhD student Tomás Rodríguez restarted @UMassChan’s Latino Medical Student Association chapter in 2020. He established the optional Medical Spanish elective in collaboration with students from all three schools. #HispanicHeritageMonth @trodriguezUMMS @UMassMDPhD @UMassChanSOM

Excited that the latest @JoungLab paper describing split #CRISPR prime editors is out online @NatureBiotech today. This work was led by @grunewaju, Bret Miller, @ReganSzalay with co-authors Peter Cabeceiras, Chris Woodilla @elizajaneholtz @Karl_Petri nature.com/articles/s4158… 1/7

Boston RT party!🧬So excited about our #CRISPR prime editing work, out @NatureBiotech today – great @JoungLab team work w/ Bret Miller, @ReganSzalay, @johnASeed1, Chris Woodilla, @elizajaneholtz, @Karl_Petri & @JKeithJoung nature.com/articles/s4158…

4/n We looked to Cas9 orthologs from other organisms as starting points. Nme2Cas9 from N meningitidis stood out. As characterized by @ESontheimerLab & others, this ortholog has natural activity on N4CC PAMs and (bonus for delivery!) is more compact than SpCas9 (1082aa vs 1368aa).

The latest issue of CP is out! The cover highlights an Overview by @OliviaJCrocker @NATrigg & @ColinConine (@ChildrensPhila and @Penn), who discuss how to design small #RNA cloning workflows in eukaryotes to capture specific small RNAs of interest. ➡️bit.ly/3eaHq8e
