Also a great meeting last week with the Greek Minister of Finance and current President of the Eurogroup, Kyriakos @Pierrakakis. We discussed the progress and challenges in implementing national recovery and resilience plans, as well as what could be improved in the next EU budget. One important improvement in the next budget proposal will be the increase in funding for the Connecting Europe Facility. An increase in EU funding for cross-border connectivity is essential for countries like Bulgaria, Greece and Romania to finally deliver projects that have been awaited for decades. 🇧🇬🇬🇷🇪🇺

At the @EU_Budget Conference 2026, I spoke about the need for a single European spectrum auction instead of 27 national ones. By doing so, we can unlock new resources and give an even greater boost to a sector where Europe already has global champions.

Yesterday I spoke at the Annual Budget Conference in Brussels on the next EU budget 2028-2034. We need a budget that ensures a competitive Europe of growth and prosperity. 🇧🇬🇪🇺 At Brussels airport there's a billboard from the European Parliament with a brutally honest title: "The world is changing and the European budget must adapt. Realities we can't ignore." That was my message too.
