The EU is stepping up support in Lebanon. 🇱🇧 This week, nearly 150 tonnes of life-saving supplies were delivered to support displaced people, adding to 75+ tonnes already sent. This support is part of the €100 million in humanitarian aid announced earlier this month. ⬇️

@WHO and partners are working together to support #Lebanon respond to the health needs caused by the intensifying conflict in the region. Last night, a humanitarian flight financially supported by @EU_ECHO, and facilitated by the EU Humanitarian Air Bridge, delivered 4.8 tonnes of WHO emergency trauma surgical supplies to support 1000 procedures for 500 patients, as well as vaccines, insulin and essential medicines. This followed the delivery, on 18 March, of 35 tonnes of essential materials, including WHO trauma and emergency supplies, that can support 100,000 patients over three months. This shipment was delivered jointly with @UNICEF, @UNFPA and partners in collaboration with Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health, and supported by the @EU_Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid operations. As the crisis escalates, WHO is on the ground keeping supplies moving and health services running. WHO calls for the protection of health care and urges all parties to urgently de-escalate and choose peace.
