I’ve had a policy since day one of not blocking anyone. That was back when there was genuine debate. No longer. I’m here to talk EVs with people who are interested in them, not bots, trolls, and halfwits. And I still don’t follow accounts that talk politics. That won’t change.

6 months ago panicked headlines reported that the EV Boxster/Cayman might not go ahead, and they were putting money into an ICE version. Now, change course! The ICE version looks like not happening… roadandtrack.com/news/a68004742…

@prwright55 The EV version was briefly in doubt then it was announced there would be both. Now it seems it may only be EV again.

@EVCircles I thought neither ICE nor EV versions of those models were going ahead due to falling sales.

@eV_Newt @oblix78 There needs to be some sort of reckoning at Stellantis. It doesn’t make sense as a company and they’re producing some truly ordinary cars.

@oblix78 @EVCircles They own 51% of Leapmotor (Europe) so they’ve not really ever given up EVs and I’d wager all their bands will become Leapmotor or Leapmotor with their own badges on. The showrooms are already becoming Leapmotor

@EVCircles @carsales They haven’t even read their own story. It says 30% of Australians will be driving ICE cars, yet the headline says majority.

How does this “sharp decline” correlate with recent blockbuster EV sales and record high market share @carsales?

Must be a hell of a time to run a car company. 6 months ago the fossil boys’ scare campaign seemed to be working and money was going back into ICE. Then a regularly scheduled Middle East War started and oil looks like a bad idea again, so…

@EVCircles ah yes, I see the confusion (as usual by non-med people). We don’t consider anything beyond about 2km from the coastline the med, we just call it the inlands 🤭

I’ve been in Europe for a week now, and it has been consistently around 30 during the day and 20 overnight. They are not set up for this and are going to be miserable as things get hotter. Buildings trap heat; air conditioning non existent or poor. It feels worse than 30 in AU.

@EVCircles also - you might’ve spend time norther or non-coastal parts of Italy? Similar would be in northern inland Croatia which has same climate as Austria, but down on the med coast the aircon is viewed same as a TV or a fridge - a perfectly normal and expected thing to have

@EVCircles to clarify - ac in houses isn’t common in *northern* Europe *ONLY*. We down in the med have literally every room everywhere airconned 🤭

@MattWallaceTech I prefer Deep Blue to Marine Blue. The latter is too dark for my tastes, doesn’t pop.

Tesla’s Pearl White exterior in my opinion is the best color they have followed closely by Ultra Red and Marine Blue.

@giginator_ Because it’s still the best “all things considered” solution. Especially if you like to travel, because the charging network is better. I can understand why people might not want to buy one, and that’s fair enough, but the cars themselves are excellent.

In June, Tesla’s Model Y posted Australia’s biggest monthly sales result for any vehicle since the Holden Commodore in the 1990’s. Yeah, it’s happening.

@Wealth_Xa3 This car doesn’t exist. It’s a media mock up because the hydrogen canisters don’t exist either. Why don’t they exist? Because no one is building hydrogen fuelling infrastructure so no one is buying hydrogen cars.

The future of driving breathes hydrogen. 💧 Instead of hours on a charger, this car refuels in seconds and drives over 1,500 kilometers. The secret is hydrogen fuel cells, they generate electricity by combining hydrogen with oxygen, and the only emission is water vapor. That means zero carbon footprint, instant refueling, and the potential to replace both gas engines and long-charge EVs. If scaled, hydrogen could reshape transportation, energy, and the way entire cities are built. #technology #innovation #future #cars #hydrogenfuelcell

@hausfath I’m in Europe at the moment and the persistent 30 degree days here are worse than in Australia - simply because nothing here is designed to cope with heat. Even air conditioned trains are too hot.

Why is AC so rare in much of Europe? Well, until recently it simply wasn't hot enough to need it. Here is the average number of days above 30C (86F) for major cities over time:
