An underappreciated side effect of the Russia-Ukraine war is that at some point Transnistria will cease to exist. It's economically, militarily and politically untenable. Ukraine and Moldova/Romania just haven't worked out how to deal with the aftermath yet.

22 January 1945 The "Panzer-Kompanie (bo.) Berlin" Even if according to the newspapers the war is being "won", in Berlin lately the air is really "bad" and after the increasingly heavy aerial bombings the population sees defensive lines being built inside the city with strongholds made up of tanks under repair or out of use. Those who can, keep their loved ones safe outside the city. The "Panzer-Kompanie (bo.) Berlin" was a special unit set up in Berlin on 22 January 1945. The "(bo.)" in the name means "bodenständig" as in static and it was equipped with immobile tanks that where to be used as pillboxes in the battle for Berlin. The Kompanie was formed with 12 Panzer IV's and 10 Panthers. The tanks were classed as schadpanzer (returned but beyond economic repair). They were repaired at the Krupp-Druckenmuller repair facility in Templehof. They were stripped of running gear and engines, holes were patched and hatches fitted. Most were repainted and some retained their old tactical numbers. They had a crew of 3 commander, loader and gunner.
