@olayiwolaide It was always obvious that Azula wanted to kill Zuko. "Breaking the rules" is a nothing burger of an argument. She saw an opening, a weakness, despite her mental state and she exploited it successfully. There was NOTHING wrong with that.

See I don't think it was fate at all or she was unlucky, it was a bad timing. Harmonic Convergence plus Unalaq merging with Vaatu created a one-off scenario where Raava could actually be separated and damaged. Its not something that just happens in the cycle. And I think that’s what makes it so polarizing and hit harder writing wise imo, it shows the Avatar system isn’t invincible as I keep saying. Korra faced something literally no other avatar ever faced before in a world that has changed so much. Korra loses everything and still rebuilds herself from scratch.
