The Book of Mormon Musical is an atheist’s love letter to faith. They don’t believe, but they’re honest enough to respect the “fruits.” And the “I Believe” song is practically an LDS anthem. What it says with irony, brothers and sisters can say with conviction. “I believe that the Lord God created the universe. I believe that He sent His only Son to die for my sins. And I believe that ancient Jews built boats and sailed to America…” youtu.be/GVJgmp2Tc2s?si…

Imagine if I went to play dedicated to mocking Jewish people as naive dupes following stupid fairy tales about a murder named Moses and his baby murdering psycho God. I bet @andrewklavan would have negative feelings about that. (Just a reminder there is better evidence for the Book of 1st Nephi than the Book of Exodus)

While my friend @RealMattFradd has been criticizing the LDS church, and Mormons (and fake Mormons) have been expressing outrage (and fake outrage), I went to see "The Book of Mormon," by the @SouthPark guys. Here's my reaction essay to @SpencerKlavan at The New Jerusalem substack. thenewjerusalem.substack.com/p/laughing-at-…

That was a great opportunity. I am so grateful to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love this church and I know it is true. I know that my Savior lives! I know that He loves me.

So today during fast and testimony meeting we had someone come to church that had never been to church before. He got up and bore his testimony of the Savior and how he was coming to know so much truths. He said that he did not know if the church was true.

“Whether or not we cover it, you are responsible for it.” Had a physics teacher in high school who was Air Force. He never argued with students, never complained about behavior. He just calmly and directly said that line. Same applies here. The school can’t learn the material for the student.

Having a limited amount of experience with a flight simulator, I feel like I could safely fly and land an Airbus A321 if someone gave me a quick once over on the control panel. Women could never understand.

Know who is NOT complaining about the blockade? The Iranian civilians. The ones using expensive VPNs to post on X. The ones risking their lives to use Starlink because the Iranian Regime outlawed it. You recognize them because their location is some other country (eg: Norway) but their connection is Iran Android App. They were gunned down by the tens of thousands in January. There’s a reason the regime cut off their internet access. “More entrenched than ever?” Their currency collapsed. Their soldiers aren’t getting paid. Gulf states are opening Iranian regime bank accounts to the US for sanctioning (after missile/drone attacks). The Regime imported foreign Shiite militia to control the Iranian populace. Iranian airspace is American airspace. They played their trump card (blockade) and Trump blockaded their blockade, which meant oil tankers changed course from Hormuz to the US gulf. Regime went from “America, we’ll close the Strait!” to “America, please open the Strait!” and that’s somehow evidence of Regime strength? The Regime showed they were lying about missile ranges when they attacked Cyprus, and they have 60% enriched uranium (when up to 10% is civilian use-grade) and somehow they’re a trustworthy actor? And then there’s China. Panama Canal, GIUK (Greenland-Iceland-UK gap), Venezuela, Strait of Hormuz, and now the Strait of Malacca (Indonesia-US military partnership) - all show the US is finally pushing back against PRC expansion. Iran bought Chinese weapons and air defense. The vaunted “hypersonic antiship missiles” did nothing to US carriers (because hypersonics can’t change course in their terminal phase, and carriers aren’t stationary). The anti-air radar was so ineffective that US planes fly daytime sorties. Xi fired his entire military leadership over how ineffective their performance was. Changes the calculus on a Taiwan invasion, doesn’t it?

Two months into the War with Iran Hundreds of our own troops wounded. Over a dozen dead. Significant damage at our bases throughout the region Yet the Iranian regime is more entrenched than ever, their nuclear capability is still there and now the Strait is shut Total failure

Are Latter-day Saints misunderstanding prophetic calls for peacemaking? Peacemaking is a high priority for Latter-day Saints, as urged recently by our late Prophet and President Russell M. Nelson. LDS scholars at BYU and elsewhere have stepped up to propose ways of pursuing this noble goal. @patrickqmason is foremost among those proposing strategies for peacemaking. In his own engagements with others Patrick models reasonable discussion very admirably. But in this article I argue that his interpretation of "peace" largely falls in line with the secular idea of "inclusion" while neglecting the spiritual contents of Christ's peace. Here is my close reading and critique of Mason's Proclaim Peace. Thanks to @InterpreterFnd . interpreterfoundation.org/journal/where-…

Remember in “The Jungle Book” how Mowgli leaves the jungle only when he meets that girl? That’s an ancient theme: man needs woman to civilize him. “The Epic of Gilgamesh” has the same theme. Enkidu is a wild man, living with animals and breaking hunters’ traps. One hunter complains to King Gilgamesh, and Gilgamesh sends a temple prostitute to deal with him. She goes to the wilderness, strips naked, and spends over a week sleeping with him and teaching him to drink wine and eat bread, “the staff of life.” When she’s done, Enkidu is too weak to run with the animals, and they run away from him. He’s not a beast anymore.

My dad once told me that Yemen was the weirdest place he'd ever been to. He described roadside villages where men would just be sitting and staring at whatever or whoever came through, glassy-eyed and expressionless, all endlessly munching on khat.

This is the most perfectly uncanny piece of AI-assisted writing I've seen--and a great tutorial on how to identify AI text. The OP is a captain! But the tell for AI isn't rhythm, wording, or fact errors. It’s that problems with *all these elements* exist equally & at once. (1/7)

Right now I’m truly contemplating doing something I’d never ever expected would happen in my life. I think Batman is at-least tied for my favorite superhero with Spiderman now dude there’s just too much to fucking love about this character. I can never truly put anyone above Spiderman because I love him so much and I always will but Batman and him are one in the same to me now, I think I can gladly say I love them both the same, in every iteration of the characters they are just amazing fucking people ❤️ I’m overly joyed by the fact that Terry and Dana finally ended up getting married and in the end Terry didn’t resent Bruce but understood the circumstances and decided to love him ❤️ BATMAN IS TRULY THE GOAT, BOTH OF THEM

Over the last 72 hours, my account has been hit with over 100,000 anti-Roman attacks by Carthaginians trying to throttle my pro-Rome posts and suppress Daily Roman Updates. Every time I post about the glory of the Eternal City or the victories of our legions, hordes of Hannibal-loving Phoenician sympathizers mass-report and shadowban me. This is blatant Punic tyranny. If you’re still loyal to SPQR and the Senate & People of Rome, drop a single ave! below so I know the algorithm hasn’t completely sacrificed me to Moloch.

Nothing infuriates an uninformed Congressional Dem more than when they realize they voluntarily triggered a debate with someone who actually knows what they are talking about, reads federal statute and adheres to Supreme Court precedent. Today’s self-implosion by @rosadelauro was quite remarkable to witness. Without apology or regret, I will always adhere to the best available reading of federal statute pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright.
