Whenever I hear about a "queer" playing Warhammer, it's always with the horror story of how they're the sweatiest most insufferable ass to play with and that it completely ruined the game for the opponent.

In other words, Plato worshiped what youngsters would nowadays describe as “bromance,” but he was strictly against what we define today as homosexuality.

No. To put it very clearly: the reason why you’re moving around as a scene tourist in Black Metal in 2026 lies in the fact that, between 1992 and 1994, it was predominantly young, straight and White men from the Norwegian middle-class who revolutionized Black Metal and established it as a distinct scene and subculture. Their attitudes and views, as expressed in interviews and lyrics at the time, were more often than not outspokenly racist, antisemitic, nationalistic. Some were bona fide National Socialists, too! This is a fact that is backed up by their own statements in interviews and song lyrics from back in the days.
You will not find a single clear statement from that scene and that period that could be described as explicitly left-wing or “woke.” Feel free to show me if you do. But that is not the case, and instead - which is not unusual for scene tourists - you are getting lost in wishful thinking. Black Metal was never a left-wing movement, and in its essence, it is still not aligned with those ideas today.
