@Dlion_Dwolf @nnamanichi93717 Just like the Harry Potter movies aren’t a second source corroborating the life of Harry Potter, they’re just rehashing what’s in the books.

@Dlion_Dwolf @nnamanichi93717 Whether or not they’re Christian is irrelevant. The fact that Josephus and Tacitus are not contemporary to Jesus is the problem. All they did is write down the things early Christians said about the things they believe. That’s not a second source, it’s a derivative of the first

There're still archeological evidence of what happened 5-6 million years ago, but the story of Jesus and other biblical stories that happened just 2000 years ago can't be traced anywhere except inside a book. Give me one reasons why the Bible isn't an allegory.. The

@Dlion_Dwolf @nnamanichi93717 Other people repeating the stories that were already written in the bible isn’t a second source for those stories. The only source for Jesus is the Jesus book, just like the only source for Harry Potter is the Harry Potter books. It doesn’t matter to the claim they made movies

@EclipseNine @nnamanichi93717 This is NOT the conversation... The conversation is that "the story about Jesus of Nazareth only exists in the bible" Which I've proven to be a lie.... With facts not sentiments

@Dlion_Dwolf @nnamanichi93717 No one who knew Jesus or encountered him firsthand wrote anything down about it. Josephus and Tacitus wrote about him a half century later, but only to report the claims of others, not as evidence in support of those claims. Neither is contemporary nor corroborating

@EclipseNine @nnamanichi93717 Read our conversation again and tell me anywhere we spoke about ressurection.... lol Meanwhile are you saying that they never wrote about the character Jesus christ of Nazareth? I really need to understand your assertions to know if you are even a learned student of history...

Thankfully, the Holy Bible is undefeated against every false prophet. Liars like Joseph Smith and Muhammad never had a chance to deceive Christ's genuine sheep. Praise God!

@Dlion_Dwolf @nnamanichi93717 Neither Tacitus nor Josephus claim the resurrection happened or even that Jesus existed. They’re both reporting what people say they believe decades after the fact and well after the gospels. This would be like if the earliest evidence for the vietnam war was written last year

@exAtheistRCC Okay, if you get to determine what you’ll find without ever needing to go there, so can I. 1) YHWH lives outside time and space 2) If I go there, he’s not there 3) YHWH doesn’t exist Bonus: things that exist in a place that isn’t for a duration that doesn’t don’t exist

@ankurkumardutt5 @farmingandJesus @creation247 @darwintojesus The silliest part is that Satan doesn’t even do anything evil in their bronze age book of fairy tales. He only kills like 10 people, all with the direct command or permission of god himself. Meanwhile god kills hundreds of millions and they worship him as good and just

@LogosFunction @i_am_a_pfhb That’s not even close to what I’m demanding. Not one of those disciples, nor a single one of the 500 witnesses Paul claims existed wrote down a single word about it. If it had happened, the Romans definitely would have written about it, but you can’t even clear that first hurdle.

@EclipseNine @i_am_a_pfhb As were the disciples present during the events of Jesus, but you demand sources from the jews or romans affirming Jesus rose from the dead while remaining neutral and not christian..

A Christian instantly blocked me after telling me: "there are plenty of historical eyewitness accounts other than the Bible that prove Jesus Christ did exist and was crucified". There are not plenty. There is not even one. Not one. The poor guy is building his life on a lie.

@LogosFunction @i_am_a_pfhb Scholarly consensus for Matthew puts it in the 75-90 range, and the author is anonymous. The gospels are named such as a matter of church tradition, not authorial attestation. Most bibles, especially study bibles, will include this disclaimer at the start of the New Testament

Historians who take the 62 ad for Acts also tend to the position that Matthew and Mark were compiled during the late 40s to mid/late 50s... Matthew is Levi who was a direct apostle.. even if the words found in the bible today are from scribes or people writing down the words as Matthew stood in a temple and preached, matthew is still the author and still a direct witness. Mark is the direct teachings of Peter who was an eyewitness. John is from the apostle who was an eyewitness. Paul encountered Jesus after the ascension despite being hostile and a persecutor of the church, even overseeing the death of Stephen.

@LogosFunction @i_am_a_pfhb You already presented the argument for dating acts earlier. It ends in 62 ad with Paul under house arrest and makes no mention of his death. Either way, it doesn’t solve your problem of zero first hand accounts of Jesus’ life.

Thats a fringe position not the historical consensus- that mark and matthew are dated after Acts. This late dating of Matthew and Mark is from people who reject the principle of prophecy and insist that the information in those gospels could have only been known about after the fact. That is dogmatic, not factual. The opening prologue of Luke is that the gospel message had already been circulating in numerous ways before, but that he had witnessed many of the early members and was writing a recounting based on what he had heard. In all this, the apostle John was still alive and lived to the 2nd century.

@LogosFunction @i_am_a_pfhb Just like messianic figures were a dime a dozen, so too were stories of resurrection. Unlike Jesus, some of these figures actually fulfilled some parts of prophecy. Simon Bar Kokhba actually ruled as king of Israel and let a rebellion. Nero Augustus alone had three resurrections

@LogosFunction @i_am_a_pfhb Rome’s fight against Carthage: another blatant lie. Polybius covered the Punic wars and was present with Scipio for the fall of Carthage in 146 BC. We have tons of contemporary evidence for these wars from Greek and Roman sources. What we’re missing are Carthaginian sources.
