.@ZackPolanski said this morning these candidates aren’t welcome in his party. So why is Sabine Mairey - arrested for antisemitism on Thursday - still out campaigning with them in Lambeth? telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/04/3…

You could solve almost all crime by locking up a tiny number of people indefinitely. It’s far more humane to imprison these scumbags than keep them on the streets, terrorising everyone else

One thing on the pro-Palestine marches. If you accept they directly intimidate the Jewish community (which they do) then you must also acknowledge the Unite the Kingdom rallies have precisely the same effect on Muslim and other minority communities. We ban both, or neither.

I'm generally optimistic about the future of Great Britain. Whenever I see 'Britain has fallen' rhetoric over immigration, knife crime and Islamic terrorism, I think it's a bit hysterical. But we simply cannot hope to survive as a nation if we continue to tolerate queuing at the bar.

Zack Polanski loves policing speech if it comes to right wing politics, but is a free speech absolutist when it comes to Palestine. He is right about this specific topic but doesn’t consistently apply it

The problem with “free speech” these days is that everyone has a pet topic in which they support free speech absolutism but support policing speech in every other sphere. Everyone is guilty of this

Laura Kuenssberg, "Do you agree with Prime Minister that chanting globalise the intifada is racist?" Zack Polanski, "No, I don't think that is correct" "It's important we have freedom of speech and freedom of protest" "We've seen a genocide going on for years in Israel now, in which our Labour government is not just complicit but actually selling arms and intelligence" "I don't believe policing people's language is going to make Jewish safety any better in this country" Laura Kuenssberg, "But that phrase is considered by many Jews and non-Jews to inciting violence, as we were discussing with Labour's Heidi Alexander" Zack Polanski, "First, the occupation is still ongoing, these are people talking about ending the occupation" "Second, there are already laws for hate crimes against antisemitism. When people are committing a hate crime, they should be arrested for that" "I don't think we need to create new laws" "I think we should have freedom to protest in the appropriate way, that is a cornerstone of our democracy" "And that when people are protesting they make sure they are not antisemitic, and that they are very clear that they are protesting the actions of the Israeli government" Laura Kuenssberg, "Zohran Mamdani said he would discourage the use of that phrase, would you?" Zack Polanski, "It's not a phrase that I would use personally, because you can make your point a lot more effectively in other ways" "But the point is that if people are traumatised and they're really passionate about the injustices they're seeing, I don't think the conversation should be about the language people are using" "It should be about the people who are dying" Laura Kuenssberg, "Words matter" Zack Polanski, "Words matter, but the tens of thousands of Palestinians who have been murdered, the people in Lebanon who has been killed, these people matter too" "And if people want to protest that, it's important we defend their right to protest" "I'm not interested in policing people's language"
