There’s nights I consider shifting gears into doing something else with this platform. It feels like a rinse and repeat with people getting shot every day and nothing ever changes. People are being allowed to walk free with minimal consequences half time and re-offend, commiting even worse crimes. TV news/corporate news is failing. Local police agencies, such as all of Montgomery County, have silenced their radios to the public in order to cover up crime and not allow us to do our jobs properly. It gets tiring and I want to actually do something that creates change rather than just watching from the sidelines day in and out.

I think the concept of citizen journalism is still a very new thing a lot of people haven’t caught onto yet. Hopefully they do: I’m in my 20s and have built up a platform of 400,000+ total followers in under six years. Even a few years ago, that would’ve sounded impossible.

This is very hard for me to write after both five years of reporting independently in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia & having grown up in the DMV.
