The removal of the rebate for private health insurance for people over 65, is grossly unfair. The rebate should have been means tested. Many seniors are low income or on pensions. Their health insurance is often their biggest expense which they struggle to keep. Unfair.

@Therese_Rein I only remember photos of iron lungs but I knew several kids who had irons on their legs. Many of those now in older age are having relapses including one friend who is loosing the use of her legs.

I remember as a child in the 1960’s going to visit people in a rehabilitation hospital in Adelaide who had had polio & were living their entire subsequent lives in an iron lung. Without the iron lung, they could not breathe. I am so grateful for the Salk vaccination against polio
