@alicekeeler Careful! One time I thought I was just "adding a couple of functions in excel," next thing I knew my entire career changed to software engineering

Some "troublemaker" on Facebook wanted a timer for Google slides while in edit mode.... 4 hours later I'm still trying to work on what I thought I could do "real quick" 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Thanks @AVID4College for introducing us to @EdjiNotes for digitally marking text. It is really cool for collaboration and reading. You can use your own text or find one in the community!

Q1: Hints are all about finding a balance between too much and too little information. Games, like learning, balance rules and order with the OTHER 4Cs (creativity, choice, chance and a little chaos). How do educators balance/mix rules and order with the “other” 4Cs? #EdjiChat

@cybercody @EdjiNotes I think of twists, usually on the cooking shows. A last minute tool or idea that students have to add in. Sometimes adding a timer and watching it count down can increaes the chaos, too #edjichat

@EdjiNotes A1: Goals! Just like games, learning needs a goal which necessitates the use of the 4 C's. Without a goal, it's difficult for anyone (esp students) to be engaged in the learning. #EdjiChat

🧡 We have seen more than one social media Terms of Service shared on the Edji Discover Feed. It’s a great way to get students, reading, thinking, and discussing the little seen parts of digital life and citizenship!

@GuiseGotTechEd What kinds of goals do you see students setting? Curious because goal setting was not something I ever learned in school, or at least it was not taught intentionally, but it's so critical to my life today

@WillStewartIV @Seesaw Yep! It’s always so fun to marvel at what they come up with. Observers often comment that my students are very self aware and self directed. It’s nothing that I’m doing, it’s them. The truth is it’s more about what I don’t do. #EdjiChat

A2 open middle and open ended tasks, not giving too many prescriptive instructions, Ss should have leeway to demonstrate their learning and interests in there own creative ways. This year some Ss decided to make mini “stop action” videos rather than record themselves1/ #EdjiChat

@learnswithzeal I'd love to get to a place where students could look back on the learning they've done over the year, with a teacher or on a subject. Things they've liked, things they've said, etc 🤔

A3 examine your own engagement, if you feel stale, shake it up. However, much of what maintains engagement is built earlier in the year. Day 1 we begin facilitate student ownership of the learning and because they own, they care about it. Be real, and have FUN. #EdjiChat

A3: We use Edji with the team here all of the time for asynchronously investigating ideas, collecting feedback, and brainstorming. It's just the best tool for the job! Ts can do the same with any lesson where they really want to investigate the Ss ideas or comprehension #EdjiChat

A2: Dreams are my favorite - students love sharing what they think (as long as they know they'll be heard). Just put them in front of any lesson you already have and they'll begin pouring out their thoughts, which many times include their dreams! #EdjiChat #remotelearning

A1 by creating an environment where everyone both owns their own learning and feels committed to the learning collectively. Lots of class and community building mixed with providing choice, voice, and autonomy and letting go of the reigns. #EduProtocols really help #EdjiChat
