These beautiful colour photos were part of a series of CFL players in the Star Weekly magazine in 1958. Jackie Parker (91) was a star QB and halfback with Edmonton Eskimos and Chuck Zickefoose (47) was a centre with Calgary Stampeders. Both played in the CFL in the 1950s and 1960s.

This full-page ad from October 1965 Weekend Magazine promotes CFL players on Coke and Sprite bottle caps. There are 230 different caps and 4 variations - English and French on each of the 2 drinks. Collectors could also order a plastic holder to display each of the 9 teams.

@UncleBD A trio of milestones in this game - @WMoon1 passed for 555 yards in this game, and Tommy Scott hit a career 10,000 yards receiving in a 45-32 win over the Montreal Concordes. This was the final win in an EE uniform for Moon, Larry Highbaugh, and Dave Fennell.

Oct 15, 1983: Brian Kelly of the #Esks set team record for reception yds with 266 yds (since broken) vs Alouettes in Commonwealth while the Oilers beat the Flames 4-3 in Saddledome debut. Golden bears beat Huskies in football. It was a good day

Here's an interesting page from the Edmonton Journal from mid-Feb, 1983. The St Louis Blues moving to Saskatoon, the Eskimos waiting for Dennis Erickson and a 10th team in the CFL in 1984! A wild news day! Or maybe not.....

Both games between the #Argos and Eskimos in October 1983 were low scoring. In this clip, Joe Barnes hits Terry Greer for the game-winning TD in a Toronto 19-15 win. Barnes was starting for an injured Condredge Holloway. #CFL youtube.com/clip/Ugkxv_c5X…

In 1978 Warren Moon was Rose Bowl MVP but signed in Edmonton saying “It was the first time in my football career when race wasn’t an issue.” At his Hall of Fame induction ceremony he said, “The Canadian people were so refreshing, so supportive of me. . . Thank you, Canada.”

BLACK HISTORY MONTH QB Warren Moon has rare distinction of being named to Canadian Football and Pro Football halls of fame. He won 5 Grey Cups in 6 years with Edmonton; 17 years with Houston, Minnesota, Seattle and Kansas City. He passed for 49,335 yards and 435 TDs in 23 years.

A framed set of 24 (out of the 27 made) Coke caps in their fragile, plastic holder. Very few of the holders survived because of how thin the plastic was, and they grew increasingly brittle over time. Plus, young fingers would pop caps in and out based on who was on the team

Coke and Sprite issued a set of 230 bottle caps featuring CFL players in 1965. The Sprite caps are far more rare than Coke because it wasn’t as popular. A great part of Canadian football history. The ad was in cfl programs that year. 🇨🇦🏈

The Coke caps (both English and Français versions) are a fun set to build. The Sprite caps (4 versions of each cap) are incredibly tough to put even a team set together. If anyone has some of the Sprite caps for Edmonton that are available, please message me!

@CFLStatsGeek Cool image. I'm curious why you have Edmonton's lineage back to the British Rugby club of 1907 (which is amazing to see. Most people rarely get that right), but not the Calgary Tigers from 1907 as well, who played Edmonton for the title that year)?

These scarce sealed packages of logo crests of the 9 CFL teams were sold by Electrohome dealers in about 1971. They are 2 inches wide by 2.5 inches high. I bought them in my home town in Saskatchewan at that time and they haven’t been out of the packages in almost 55 years.

CFL fans could order these 6-inch by 9-inch crests - one each for the West and East Divisions - in 1958 through The Star Weekly magazine. The West one is in its original form and the East one has been trimmed. Also shown is the ad for the crests in the Oct. 25, 1958 Star Weekly.
