BREAKING: Another US service member was just killed in Trump’s Iran War… and Trump is busy watching the World Cup!
For a war we have been told is for all intents and purposes over, the death toll is rising.
Just one day after the Pentagon announced that two U.S. service members were killed in Jordan during an Iranian missile and drone attack, the U.S. military confirmed Sunday that another American service member was killed in Iraq.
According to CENTCOM, the service member died during the “controlled detonation” of a downed Iranian drone.
The news comes as one American remains unaccounted for following Friday's attack in Jordan but may have been found.
Military officials said Sunday that "unidentified remains" had been recovered and are being examined.
The latest death brings the number of American service members killed since the war began to 17. More than 430 have been wounded.
Trump touted last month’s preliminary ceasefire as a successful conclusion to the conflict. But victories don’t come from press conferences, they come when the enemy stops shooting at you and goes home.
Since the ceasefire, the fighting has resumed, the region has grown more unstable, and more American service members have lost their lives.
Beyond these new tragedies, the United States and Iran are once again exchanging strikes across the region, inevitably sucking U.S. allies into the mire as Iran fires missiles toward Jordan and the U.S. launches new attacks on Iranian targets.
Trump has continued to defend the war as necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. But as the casualties mount, we are left with a simple question:
How many more service members have to die before this war is finally over?
Our leadership doesn't really know what winning looks like any more, if they ever did.
Let’s hope they can get out of it before too many young men women die, and we can send them packing from Washington after the next election.
