100%. Anyone under 25 shouldn’t touch it for the simple fact that if you become a habitual user you will stop progressing. In everything. No it’s not going to kill you. I know that. But it will sap your will to do anything to advance yourself as a person. The first 10 years after school are the most important in your career and you need to be motivated and busy if you want to be able to relax later on. Then you can smoke as much as you want.

An example of military doctrine I find quite interesting is US Tank Destroyers in WW2. Fast, lightly armoured, but with a powerful main gun. The idea was that they would be kept in reserve to rush in against enemy tanks or go out and find ambush/flanking positions. In battle they were meant to fire and disengage rather than slug it out turret to turret. It's an interesting way of handling superior enemy tanks.

@Futu3t3ipsum @Clint_Davey1 I think the USSR had a TON of really, really cool ideas during/after the war, and just didn't really understand or have the capacity to execute them well. Like, uhh, the PT76 or something. Really awesome idea (especially for the time) but the execution was REALLY bad.

@Clint_Davey1 Considering how the USA produced excellent war machines both in the air and sea and also their ample resources to design and manufacture them, their armor was unecceptably sub-par. The USSR made much better tanks with the same weight and size while keeping high production numbers

@EricRichards22 I find it really fascinating that post Korea, a lot of people in Europe went back to this lightly armored, turret equipped, fast tank idea because HEAT was so out there Its cool how cyclical the entire development has been so far as tech moves on

I dont understand—once upon a time we had an essentially endless Internet & we did not need these atrocious DataCenters, yet now we supposedly need them when it is obvious Google/Technocrats have limited/censored the Internet to almost nothing. What *extra* Data are they storing?
grist@grist

A proposed data center in California's Imperial Valley would need 750,000 gallons of water a day. Satisfying the thirst of 24 more facilities expected to open in the state will be challenging, experts and officials say. (via @insideclimate) grist.org/drought/califo…

@EdwardDarson No. It wasn't. It was a comparison on the proliferation of gun laws with newer arms vs. the intent of the 2nd Amendment. Try harder next time.

@AtlasManifest @KenFarmerTV This is the way to do it. I've got a manila folder full of it but it's every contact, every number, and every SOP I can think of in the house. No one cares until it's well and truly fucked, and in those moments it's insane how well it works.

A coworker showed me his house maintenance binder that was a 3-inch, 3-ring binder stuffed with emergency cash and detailed records of every past, current, and planned project. He had meticulously mapped every breaker, pipe, and stud, plus appliance serial numbers and repairmen contacts. His pièce de résistance was the back sketchpad, a photorealistic drawing of his vision for a perfected home. He’s probably a bit autistic, but it’s not a bad idea to keep a record.

My wife admits that she has no idea how this house works no matter how often I try to teach her. She will ask things like "Why do you need a filter wrench" I explained I broke my old one and needed to change the houses water filter. I do it every 3 months for the last 15 years...she never knew. After that she wanted a whole list, and it was a lot. Everything but mowing and trash she had no idea about.

@KenFarmerTV Its absolutely ludicrous how checked out of home maintenance most people are. Women are notorious for it but it's genuinely shocking how many men will look at you with a blank stare if you mention, say, checking the AC filter.

@Claysthetics I don't think there's any point in all in engaging with whatever "community," HD2 has left. The people who stuck around are entrenched, whales, or nolifers. The people who left don't seem to care about coming back and every update seems bad. Idk man HD2 just doesn't seem good

"You are not the Target Audience for Helldivers 2" I wonder what it means when 71% of positive reviews are under 40 hours played and 84% of overwhelmingly negative reviews are more than 100 hours played. Can somebody tell me why that is? I also looked a little more into the actual reviews after seeing Thiccfila's post and after diving a little deeper a lot of positive reviews over 100 hours have less than 5 hours played in the last 2 weeks. I find it very interesting that the people telling everyone who actually cares about the game's future to "stop complaining or stop caring"... don't even play the game?

@RudeOnion Yeah it's best not to engage with the gun community at large imo, too much useless fucking navelgazing Hope you enjoyed the fullsize Uzi, I actually genuinely think they're good full auto guns. Not a lot of recoil and a lower rate of fire is comfy

Based on the replies to this one 10-second clip you'd think I was swinging the gun around wildly instead of just...leaning a little far back because I wasn't familiar with the sensation of automatic fire 😕
