I see adults who have children or hope to have children - saying "move on". "You just want to do your own". That one is your father's business. If your children attended @SympLySimi mother's daycare between 2012 & 2013 - would you have genuine questions? Would you want to know? Or wouldn't you? We have been programmed to treat women as incapable of crimes or having a slated timeframe to " let it go". It's about time we reprogrammed that settings. Crimes have the same impact, regardless of gender.

If we finally get an empathetic and sincere leader after these locusts, it’s then you’ll realize Nigerians are not adaptive as we assume. They’ll demand for things they didn’t demand under the leaders that hate them.

There’s a welder in my neighborhood making $5M+ a year. Years ago he was dating a girl and went to dinner with her family who are big real estate developers. They just so happen to mention how they needed a welder & he said he could do it and delivered. Now he has contracts all over Dallas & Houston. No college degree. Just a high school diploma. The greatest wealth builder isn’t education, skill or even work ethic. It’s simply proximity.

Something that bothers me about Nigerians is this desire to keep highlighting extremes. It is very common to pick a soundbite from a report and turn it into a narrative of suffering in arguments that don't move the needle. Yes, there is a lot of poverty, but people are still alive and struggling. How do they manage to do so? That is also research worthy. It can also provide better insights into how to address poverty and move people forward. I mentioned the other day that during the American Great Depression, certain industries still thrived because people just wanted to be happy. This is also true of the poor in Africa; no matter how poor they are, they still seek happiness. It is probably in those sectors that make them happy that the answers may lie, as they may also be what keeps them from becoming desperate. My grandfather gambled on football for many years and knew all the English Premier League teams, but in the Okomu Jungle, a British CEO who saw the love of football by the locals was able to put together a team called Okomu FC that led to the rise of Yakubu 'The Yak' Aiyegbeni. He took what they loved and turned it into an English Premier League career and wealth. Yakubu is forever grateful to him for the opportunity. The same John Whitechurch also gave me my biggest career break and allowed us to build software products for the plantation and learn. One man's action in allowing us to tap into our passions has led to a multiplier effect on jobs and wealth. He didn't give us money or loans; he gave us the opportunity to prove ourselves while our fellow Africans in the same establishment were more interested in extortion and bribery. He turned 80 last year, and on my call to him, I still kept thanking him for all he did for us, and he kept telling me to pay it forward. I am tired of hearing how many Nigerians have very little money in the bank, as that is irrelevant. I never have more than a million Naira in any bank account myself because that is stupid; I make sure cash is invested. What I would love to invest in more are things that move people forward and out of poverrty and there are very few of those initiatives available. We are all investing money in big companies that make richer people richer while we laugh at the poor who have very little in their accounts, instead of investing in things that help them move up and, at the same time, increase our wealth. Someone was asking for a new type of fintech this week that solves real problems. I think the one that lifts up small businesses and sole traders is the one to look for. We are so fixated with risk that we cannot see that poverty is an opportunity for people to grow, and not for them to steal or lose money. We have to think differently.
