"Instead of minimizing a disagreement out of politeness or watering it down to commonalities to reduce discomfort, by specifying where the conflict lies, where each of us stands, and what matters most, we can move forward together," wrote Executive Director @jennrothberg.

We are honored to be named to the Reach Out and Read 2025 Honor Roll Class. This recognition is a celebration of our shared commitment to Early Relational Health, ensuring that every family has the support needed to build strong, nurturing connections from the very beginning. Through the pediatric literacy model, Reach Out and Read transforms routine doctor visits into opportunities for parents and children to establish emotional connection from the very beginning. Our earliest relationships and the emotional connection we experience as babies with parents and caregivers are integral to developing our sense of self, as well as our ability to trust, empathize, and build mutually supportive, nurturing relationships throughout life. Pediatric health care offers a universal, non-stigmatizing touchpoint and an opportunity to bring the power of early relational health to nearly every family in the U.S. We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Reach Out and Read to make this a reality.

“Pluralism offers a path forward,” wrote Liz Vogel, Co-Executive Director of New Pluralists, in The Chronicle of Philanthropy. “Rather than an excuse to avoid change or water down conviction, pluralism is a strategy for making progress on intractable issues.” Pluralism looks like Resetting the Table’s cross-ideological, multifaith campaign in Buffalo, New York, to prevent hate-based violence. It also looks like a conversation hosted by New Pluralists and over 60 philanthropic leaders a few weeks ago to hear from experts like Dr. Rachel Kleinfeld, Frederick J. Riley of Weave: The Social Fabric Project at the Aspen Institute, and Tim Dixon of More in Common, and to explore how funders can strengthen belonging, social trust, and cooperation across the country. Check out Liz Vogel’s latest essay in The Chronicle of Philanthropy: zurl.co/dHrQi Learn more about how you can join New Pluralists: zurl.co/jHI5d

A path to a socially connected society begins with strong relationships between child and parent or caregiver, with the time between birth and age 3 being foundational for lifelong health & well-being. We are excited to share the new @theNASEM report: Early Relational Health: Building Foundations for Well-Being, which highlights the importance of these early relationships. I encourage you to read this piece in the @NewYorker. For nearly two decades, my foundation @einhorncollab has been working with nonprofits and higher ed institutions to promote engagement and collaboration across differences. Recently, more universities and colleges are using this approach to address the rise in hate, division, and polarization on their campuses. College should be a time when young people are exposed to new ideas, go beyond their comfort zones, and learn to live and work with people who hold different values and beliefs. Higher ed should equip students with the skills, mindsets, and opportunities to do so. newyorker.com/magazine/2025/…

For nearly two decades, @einhorncollab's investments in building relationships and collaborations across differences have demonstrated that pluralistic mindsets and practices can give people and institutions the tools they need to weather the crises of today and tomorrow.

Higher education can play a critical role in helping students foster a culture of respect and belonging, engage productively with divergent viewpoints, and find strength in difference. We appreciate @emmaogreen and @NewYorker for covering the work our Executive Director @jennrothberg is doing with partners like the @ctzns_schlrs, @BridgeUSA_, and @interfaithusa to improve campus culture and climate across the country. Pluralistic skills and mindsets are necessary for lowering the temperature on college campuses today and preparing young people to be empathetic leaders and engaged citizens after graduation.
