Mark Carney

Canada is deeply concerned about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirm our opposition to Israeli settlement expansion and settler violence in the West Bank. Earlier today, I spoke with President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the measures taken by the Palestinian Authority to strengthen accountability, governance, and democratic institutions, in which Hamas can play no part. We will continue to promote peace and stability in the region, and work closely with partners toward this goal.

@KingBobIIV What are you smoking? "Unprovoked"? Countries have a duty to defend their ppl, that means israel from hezbollah AND Lebanon from hezbollah dragging it into a war

I simply can't get my head around anyone defending this, utterly unprovoked, bombing campaign on totally innocent civilians in a residential area. I don't care if the victims were Muslim or Christian or anything else - they were *people* that did absolutely nothing wrong. And Im sickened that its starting too look like the British were involved. If you're justifying acts like this, you really need to have some time of introspection.

It is a positive step for PM Carney and Canada to join the rising chorus of nations affirming that a ceasefire in the Middle East must include peace in Lebanon, which is suffering extraordinary bombing and killing by Israel. Canada must always act further to align properly with international law and human rights, including by placing targeted sanctions on the Netanyahu government.

Even though Jews are already the most protected class of people in Canada, the reason why they are quite OK with this new set up is that 96.4% of Jews in Canada self-identify as white and white people don’t have to worry about police violence, whether they are victims or alleged perpetrators of violence. Muslims, on the other hand, are not OK with this new setup - “patrol rifles”, “long guns”, or even police presence at their places of worship, because they know that rather than protecting them, the police are more likely to use those weapons against them! Muslims not only are already one of the most unprotected and targeted groups in Canada, there have been numerous fatal incidences of law enforcement violence against Muslims —> Sammy Yatim (2013): the 18-year-old was shot and killed by Toronto Police Constable James Forcillo while alone on a streetcar holding a small knife. Captured on video, the incident sparked national outrage, leading to the rare conviction of Forcillo for attempted murder Soleiman Faqiri (2016): a man with mental illness, died in an Ontario jail after a violent encounter with correctional officers. A comprehensive post-mortem review later concluded that the actions of the guards directly contributed to his death. Ejaz Choudry (2020): a 62-year-old man with schizophrenia, was shot and killed by police in Mississauga, Ontario, during a mental health crisis call. Relatives had called an ambulance, but police responded instead, leading to his death. Abisay Cruz (2025): A man in crisis, later identified as Abisay Cruz, died in Montreal police custody after being restrained and tased by officers. Neighbors claimed they heard him screaming for help and that police neglected his health needs. Tell me, how many Jews have been shot dead, violently tackled, tazed and restrained to death, or arrested and killed in custody by law enforcement in Canada?

Canada can barely build a light rail transit line and fill pot holes. Iran under severe global sanctions has extensive metro systems, deep and long tunnels, & some of the world’s most advanced missiles all built independently to protect itself. Plus free health, university…etc.

We are appalled by the selective humanity, the double standards, and the selective outrage that continue to shape and define Canadian foreign policy. As Canadian citizens, we refuse to accept a system where human lives are valued differently based on geography, politics, or identity. Citizenship is not passive it carries a responsibility to speak, to question, and to hold our government accountable. Justice cannot be conditional. Compassion cannot be selective. When silence is chosen for some victims and outrage for others, it exposes not only hypocrisy but a profound moral failure. Canada must uphold the principles it claims to stand for. A foreign policy rooted in selective human rights is not principled it is complicit. As citizens, we reject this hierarchy of human worth. We stand for equal dignity, consistent justice, and accountability for all people, everywhere without exception. #CanPoli #IranWar

Canada is appalled by the Iranian Government’s execution of a Swedish citizen in Iran. We offer our deepest condolences to the family and express our full solidarity with Sweden. Canada continues to call on the Iranian regime to respect human rights and uphold their responsibilities under international law.

.@TorontoPolice now say the Hate Crime Unit is investigating this vile display. Good. But it shouldn't require complaints from various organizations and bystanders to take action. Numerous officers were at the scene observing this hatred themselves. The law is very clear: willful promotion of hate is a crime. It's time to arrest and prosecute to the full extent. shorturl.at/E17fq - h/t @kinsellawarren
