Safaricom should just have copied the MyAirtel App idea for their MyOneApp app. The MyAirtel app combines both telco and financial services in one very simple and clean interface.

@Benign_Overlord Israel was instructed in the bible to never charge interest on lending. Bible is perfect, it foreshadowed the coming ruthless, shylock and bank lenders.

@rodgers_adai If shareholders of Co-operative bank are not complaining, doesn't that tell you that your analysis is lacking something?

I have been checking the list of the Highest paid CEOs in Kenya the last 10 years and most are from Banking Industry with makes like Gideon Muriuki, Co-Operative Bank, Joshua Oigara KCB,Martin Oduor Otieno KCB, James Mwangi Equity, Awori Standard Bank as examples over the years. And in each year, the CEOs of Kenya Public Banks i.e. Cooperative Bank, KCB have been extraordinarily high compared to Banks like ABSA, Standard Bank. Oigara KCB used to earn several multipliers more than Awori of SCB. But the most striking are the earnings of Gideon Muriuki of Co-Op Bank. He has been CEO since 2001!! Does it mean the Board since that time have NEVER Bern able to identify or groom a replacement?? Is he superhuman? I look at the Board and you mostly see 'Educationists'. You dint have a calibre like Michael Joseph who can raffle feathers. It might mean there has never been a Board member to point out overcompensation in the CEOs Contract. And should have been rectified even by 2005. Cooperative Bank is owned 64 % by Co-Op Holding Cooperative Society. Does an ordinary member of a Cooperative think they might be overcompensating the CEO of Cooperative Bank? Earning Shs 1 million PER DAY, Shs 31M per Month and Shs 450M per Month in my opinion appears like overcompensation for work done. Co-Op Bank was majority owned by Cooperatives and Cooperatives were required to open accounts with the Bank. So raising Capital was not really a problem with Co-op bank unlike other Banks who have to go out of their way to get deposits to lend. So that performance is wind assisted. When Michael Joseph went to Kenya Airways, he terminated the McKinsey Contract which was bleeding KQ. Could it be possible that Gideon Muriuki is too experienced for Co-op Bank Board who mostly are probably elected by Cooperatives and therefore cannot have the guts to try to change the CEO? This is where the Govt, mush as we vilify it is supposed to have a good control of Public related entities. All Banks in Tier 1 and 2 are making Billions so his performance cannot be extraordinary. The same situation prevails at KTDA. You read good news from KTDA. The Government should have a role. KCB has had a change of CEOs from Martin Oduor, Joshua Oigara and now Russo which is a good thing and they don't overstay. Once you have Board Members coming in via Elections from grassroots, it is unlikely you will have the best professionals in the Industry who can make tough professional decisions. More so because they are only there for a short period.

Sierra Leonean Woman Tells Court She Overstayed Visa After Falling in Love with Kenyan Man A Sierra Leonean woman found herself in court in Eldoret after overstaying her visa in Kenya, confessing that she had simply “forgotten” to renew it because she fell in love with a Kenyan man.The woman was arraigned before a magistrate’s court in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, and charged with being in the country illegally without a valid immigration permit, in violation of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act. She pleaded guilty to the offence. In mitigation, she told the court that she had initially entered Kenya on a short visit but ended up falling in love, which caused her to lose track of time and fail to renew her visa. The moment turned light-hearted when she pointed out her boyfriend seated in the court gallery. The man stood up and openly confirmed their relationship, telling the magistrate: “Your honour, I can confirm she is my girlfriend.”The court was visibly amused by the candid romantic admission during the proceedings.
