@adamrowecomedy I mean...Slot not only knows what the problem is but how to fix it too. How did we land such a brilliant coach 🤯

People who think one (painfully) average season after being champions is one of our worst seasons ever can't remember us being shite in the 90s while Man U hoovered up every trophy. This isn't even in the same stratosphere.

@CarinaKJacob I think we're at a point where it wouldn't matter what he won. The crux of it is that this man isn't likeable, inspires nothing and I for one don't believe a word he says either... I mean even when we win it feels flat.

Imagine Arne Slot winning 2 trophies next season after the way people talk about him now.

@RedMan6_19 It'll be because he sucks and/or just isnt the man for the job... like the man he would be replacing 👀 Can't avoid trying something else simply because the last thing you tried was horrible

If Alonso comes in and does badly the ghouls will just argue that it’s because of the team Slot left behind.

🚨Oliver Glasner just delivered one of the coldest press conference responses of the season Reporter asked him about the title race and whether Palace could influence it… Glasner replied: “I checked my pay slips… I didn’t get any money from Arsenal or City.” Then he finished with THIS: “Our influence in the title race is definitely less than VAR.”

A lot of the discourse around Liverpool this season keeps treating IP and OOP football like isolated concepts. A lot of it has also been about ‘identity’. These are deeply interconnected points. The balance between IP and OOP is heavily influenced by whether the squad has the profiles to execute the intended IP structure consistently. Take Slot’s Liverpool versus Flick’s Barcelona. Barcelona largely has the profiles Flick needs to execute his IP principles at a high level. Pedri and De Jong stabilise circulation and progression. Yamal and Raphinha constantly destabilise defensive structures, sustain territorial pressure and create repeatable spacing. The team pins opponents back for long stretches and spends less time defending unstable transitions. That does not mean Barcelona’s OOP structure is flawless. It absolutely causes issues at times. But the overall balance tilts heavily towards goals scored outweighing goals conceded because the IP structure mitigates many dangerous defensive situations before they fully materialise. Liverpool, by contrast, have lacked enough profiles to fully sustain Slot’s intended IP game. That IP game is a core fundamental of his ‘identity’. Without a true controlling and progressive 6, circulation becomes unstable. Without enough natural width and stretching actions from the wingers, spacing compresses. Progression becomes sterile. And once the team starts taking incremental risks to compensate for those limitations, turnovers naturally increase. Poor IP execution does not just hurt chance creation. It destabilises the defensive structure at the same time. More turnovers means more transition exposure. More recovery runs. More emergency defending. More broken spacing. More stress placed on an OOP structure that is constantly having to defend unstable game states. And if a team is repeatedly surviving through breathless tackling sequences and transitional chaos, it usually points towards one of two things. Either the team is heavily reliant on transition football itself, or it is not controlling matches well enough in possession. This is why the idea that Liverpool simply need to ‘run harder’, ‘tackle more’ or ‘show more fight’ misses the underlying issue entirely. Good possession football is defensive protection straight out-of-the-box. Fix the IP, and OOP becomes manageable. You could have every elite OOP profile imaginable, but if you cannot consistently destabilise teams and score, you still will not win enough football matches. And this is before even factoring in the wider environmental constraints Liverpool have dealt with this season. A disrupted pre-season. Fixture congestion compounding physical instability. Constant injuries leading to endless lineup disruption and incomplete stress testing of structures. So it is hardly surprising the team has oscillated between cohesion and self-disruption. The foundations underneath the system have rarely been stable for long enough to consistently embed the intended behaviours. That does not make the coach blameless. But it does mean many observable failures are downstream of structural instability rather than existing in isolation. And moreover, if the team is not built for this ‘identity’, then demanding that ‘identity’ appear anyway is a fool’s errand. If the solution is supposedly for the coach to build an entirely different fallback philosophy mid-season, inside a highly constrained environment, without proper preparation time or stress testing, then he is effectively being asked to be a miracle worker. At that point, the question shifts towards recruitment and squad construction. Because if the profiles do not align with the intended ‘identity’, instability becomes inevitable regardless of who is standing on the touchline. Sort the recruitment, and success will more often than not follow downstream from it. This has been my assessment all season. The Chelsea draw underlined it even further. No change.

@SherekhanKlopp Not really interested in listing every constraint — that turns into a spreadsheet exercise. Constraints exist for every team. The question is where they stop being explanation and start becoming excuse. Coaching is still judged on output within those constraints.

@El_Bohemian Would you like to make a list of all the constraints this season from start to finish? We can then discuss how many of those cross a line from reasonable constraint to unreasonable.

@famidarahman @JoeSoapSA @StandardBankZA They denied a claim because the carport “wasn’t in the original house plans”… even though it was there when we got and insured the property. Cancelled immediately. Now paying 3x less elsewhere for better cover. Make it make sense.

I never believed @StandardBankZA was capable of unethical behaviour. A fraudster got past their security and stole R4599 from my card. Nearly got another R14000. They agreed to refund me if I admitted in writing that I received and authorised a OTP, which I did not receive or do. But they will pay me back if I admit I am a thief. Sick!! No integrity!!
