Harry Potter is a great series. If you have kids, the movies are fun to watch (we'd be Slytherin!). And Jim Kay's illustrated books are literal representations of how Rowling describes the characters. This is Snape. He is not a negro. He is a White man. He loves Lily and protects her son (with James). Race swapping makes no sense and cheapens the story.

Paapa Essiedu is a great actor but this is the wrong role. Get him in another - Remus, Kingsley, etc - because he's talented but he doesn't match the physical description for Snape in the slightest.
