I have obviously been exposed to the worst manifestations of Jew-hatred imaginable beginning in my childhood in Lebanon. But I must say that seeing people whom I have been on very friendly terms, and in some instances have promoted their voices, delve into Nazi-level Jew-hatred is tough to process. How did I sit down at a table with such an individual? Did they hate me then but hide it? Or did they develop their current positions recently?

Now I'm two months from the wedding, and my entire bridal party is "gently suggesting" I find something more "classic." My mother-in-law offered to buy me a "proper" dress from David's Bridal. But when I put this on, I see my grandmother's garden, her stories about village celebrations, the culture she left behind when she immigrated. Yes, it's not a traditional white gown. Yes, people might whisper. But isn't a wedding dress supposed to make you feel like the truest version of yourself? I'm torn between keeping peace and keeping this dress that makes my heart sing every time I look at those embroidered birds

Martyna Ogonowska, a UK rape survivor who, at 18, stabbed a man to death in self-defense as he sexually assaulted her, has just lost an appeal of her 17 year prison sentence. This, lest we forget, is the same court system which failed to prosecute the adult man who raped Ogonowska when she was 14 because a judge decided that she’d consented, and which also recently handed out a suspended sentence to a man who raped a 13 year old because he told the judge that he “didn’t know it was illegal,” and because had been taught in his UK madrassah that British women and girls “have no more value than a piece of candy that has been dropped on the ground. It seems that the British justice system agrees.

@hrkbenowen Can I offer a suggestion? Don't put "proudly" with "we do not sell halal meat". I do support free speech and I am also pragmatic enough to not wave red flags in front of aggressive male bulls.
