Leaving #BYM2024 & feeling the need-ironically-for some quiet to process what was wonderful that came as a surprise; what didn't happen and so was better than anything I was nervous about; what hurt that I didn't expect. Euston station, it turns out, is not the place for that!

The 2-y-o has summed up her visit to my ordination at Peterborough Cathedral yesterday. "Bandad go big church, wear black dress and white dress. Then we have tikken nuggets and ice cream." This last said with a smile of enormous dimensions.

@hannahmerich I'm a Quaker, and even we find a whole day of silence hard! One thing I find helpful is the realisation that stillness doesn't *have* to be slow. You may be just as mindful and focussed on God when running through his creation as you are when walking slowly...

I'm forcing myself into a silent retreat soon - less than 48 hours because I'm a wimp & hate silence, but that's the point. If you're holier/quieter than me, any tips?

@MarkDRuss Love this - thank you, Mark. The question that now won't leave me is how different our lives and communities might all be if we acted and served through Love, not Duty...

@maudward Trying to find a way of saying well done for keeping it clear enough to do this (not that I'm jealous of your skills or anything), and hooray for being creative, and that I really hope you managed to find a way to have a little actual space at some point today, all at once...

When you try to explain how you manage working with a child who struggles with separation... sometimes only a photo will do.

If you had an hour a week to teach currently disengaged college students Digital Skills, what would you love to teach them, and how? #edutwitter #loveFE

I do not like housework. I'm not good at housework. A messy house makes me feel very unsettled.

There's nothing like the horror of looking for a teaching resource under pressure, finding a headline that looks good, but forgetting to read to the end before using it in a classroom... #RookieMistake #MovingOnUp

@thenescalator Absolutely this. She's many, many awful things, but call her out on them, don't fall back on "blond woman, must be stupid" stereotypes!

Years ago, when Boris Johnson felt untouchable and everything I loved and valued in this country felt at risk, someone told me that when the time was right it would be the Conservatives themselves that would oust him, and they would destroy him utterly. #PatienceIsAVirtue

Child 1 has labelled it as all too familiar, a playing out of primary school alliances. Child 2 asked flat out if this was all because "he's one of those men who think they can do whatever they want because they have power". I have no words left. #BorisJohnsonOut #NoMoreGates

I keep trying to write a blog post about this, but run out of words because it's not my story to tell, so here's my not-so-hot take instead: It shouldn't be a surprise, even when they're the "nice" ones, but God, some school parents teach such quiet homophobia, don't they.

This week has officially contained Too Much Adulting. If anyone needs me before Monday, you'll find me hiding in my room, listening to music from the 90s and comfort reading...

@simonjgray Is grumbling loudly in my head a reasonable answer? Usually that's as far as it gets, unless eg the bins are forgotten several times in a row. Even then, I'd check on FB first as my neighbours usually report it and then report the solution before I even get home from work...

Pop quiz: if you, as an ordinary citizen of your town, see some flytipping, or a pothole, or have a flashing streetlight outside your house, or your bins haven’t been collected, and you want to inform t’corporation, what are you doing? Complaining? Reporting? Something else?

@lucyfarfort Mine are 11&8 and both still believe, despite having parents who are incredibly forgetful and never carry cash... 🤦🏻‍♀️ But my 11 yo has lost a couple of teeth recently and didn't put them under her pillow; she still believes, just doesn't really care. Which I actually kinda love!

Evening Tweeters! I'd really appreciate some help with a little question. Would an 8.5 year old kid still believe in the tooth fairy? Maybe you have a child this age, or you can remember back this far. Think I believed until about 9, but I may be exception. Thank you very much
