a friend called me today. his wife has cancer.
5 months. that’s all it took to erase 20 years of savings. two degrees, zero credit card debt, a paid down mortgage, a retirement account they were proud of.
they did everything Dave Ramsey, their parents, and every financial advisor told them to do.
5 months of treatment wiped all of it out. with insurance. he refinanced the house just to keep her alive. 15 years of equity.
gone.
he told me it turned him into a bitter, hateful person. but he’s not bitter. he’s just a man who played by every rule and still lost everything.
and somewhere in America right now there are thousands of families in the exact same position. doing everything right. losing everything anyway.
this is not a healthcare system. it’s a hostage situation.
and we’re supposed to be proud of it.

28% of all 🇺🇸 debt has been created under Trump in just < 5.5 years in office. Meanwhile, wealth inequality in 🇺🇸 has never been wider.

A birth certificate proves citizenship in this country. Trump does not want that to be the case.
If the Supreme Court rules in Trump’s favor in the birthright citizenship case, a U.S. passport will be the only way to prove citizenship.
“If you don’t have [a U.S. passport], you’re not going to be able to register to vote,” Marc Elias said.

"We are urgently scaling up operations, but at the moment the epidemic is outpacing us"
Not good.
Not good at all.

Murkowski and Tillis and two more GOP Senators who recognize Trump's power-drunk, autocratic bent, and the harm he is doing, should declare themselves Independents, say they're prepared to caucus with Dems so as to flip the Senate now, then issue demands. Four GOP Senators WOULD have that power. Yes, it would take enormous courage. But this is the time for it, and it shouldn't be as inconceivable as it has somehow become - and I say that because, after all, ordinary unelected people exhibit that level of courage every day.

You can’t spend two months telling America you destroyed Iran’s military and then call new strikes “self-defense.”

ALERT: @MacFarlaneNews reports there are now THREE federal lawsuits challenging Trump’s $1.776 billion slush fund.
One lawsuit calls the fund a “jaw-dropping” act of corruption and self-dealing.
Another was filed by former Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and D.C. officer Daniel Hodges, who argue taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize January 6 rioters who still threaten law enforcement officers.
A third federal suit argues the fund amounts to political favoritism benefiting supporters of one political figure over others.
MacFarlane says the legal fights may now move faster than Congress itself.
“This thing stinks,” he said. “It’s the political version of a sulfur mine.”

Thomas Massie has officially filed a statement of candidacy, allowing him to begin raising money for a potential 2028 presidential run.
That instantly changes the meaning behind a lot of what’s happening right now.
Because Massie is no longer just fighting Trump politically.
He’s positioning himself as a possible post-Trump alternative for the faction of the right that:
- distrusts foreign intervention
- hates establishment Republicans
- opposes surveillance expansion
- views the GOP as drifting too far into loyalty politics
- Epstein-class protectors
- and fighting foreign wars
The Republican civil war is getting more real by the week.

@JBPritzker @NOUVEAUXDEBUTS Worse than the money is that he’s given himself, his family and businesses a pardon from all pending IRS audits and an exemption from ever paying taxes again.
