I genuinely don’t understand how ppl don’t get this. To be “provided for” means you are, in many ways, at the mercy of someone else. They have a certain amount of control and authority over you. The relationship btwn a provider and a beneficiary is always a transactional one.

This is why "positive" masculine ideals, like men being "providers" or "protectors," are a product of the same entitlement as the negative ones. It's all about romanticizing forced dependency and pushing the social expectation that you'll provide service to them out of gratitude.

i was reading this book today that said a man’s primary need is respect, while a woman’s is love. when a wife doesn’t feel loved, she reacts with disrespect & when a husband doesn’t feel respected, he reacts with a lack of love & that’s the “crazy cycle” cause both keep reacting
