India's grid just hit 277 GW. New all-time record. The May heatwave is now worse than April, and we have 3 more months of summer left. Here is what happened in the last 48 hours that nobody is talking about. 19 thermal power plants are running on critical coal stock — less than 4 days of supply. Rajasthan imported 6 GW from neighbouring grids, 50 percent more than its allocation. Two states issued load-shedding orders despite the Centre telling them not to. The grid frequency dropped to 49.75 Hz three times yesterday. For non-engineers: below 49.7 Hz, automatic load-shedding kicks in to prevent cascade failure. We are 0.05 Hz away from automatic blackouts. Solar is doing its job during the day — 62 GW at noon. But the evening ramp is becoming unsurvivable. Between 5 PM and 7 PM, the grid needs to add 55 GW in two hours as solar drops off. That ramp rate did not exist in any planning document. India's power planners assumed 277 GW by 2030. We hit it in May 2026. The gap between planning assumptions and reality is now 4 years. Every infrastructure investment thesis in India needs to be rewritten starting with this number.

Bangalore socializing runs almost entirely on planned events and group activities. Meetups, pub crawls, founder dinners, community runs, tech talks. The calendar is packed. People are never short of things to attend. The loneliness is a different layer. Most people here moved from somewhere else. Your college friends are in Mumbai or Delhi or Hyderabad. Your family is in a different state. Your neighbours change every 11 months because everyone is on a rental cycle. So you end up with a city full of people who are incredibly good at networking and terrible at just hanging out. You know 200 people at a surface level and maybe 3 people you'd call at 2 AM. The commute makes it worse. HSR to Whitefield is 90 minutes on a bad day. You cannot casually drop by someone's place after work. Every meeting with a friend requires a calendar invite, a location negotiation, and a traffic risk assessment. Spontaneous connection basically dies once your commute crosses 45 minutes. The other BLR specific thing: the friend groups fragment by company and by area. Your Koramangala friends never meet your Whitefield friends. Your startup friends never meet your GCC friends. You end up maintaining 4-5 separate social circles with zero overlap, which is exhausting, so you slowly stop maintaining most of them.

Today I introduced a private Member's Bill that would have delinked implementation of Women's Reservation in Lok Sabha & Assemblies from census and delimitation & brought into force immediately. I had given a notice under Rule 267 requesting the Hon. Chairman, RS to permit motion of the Bill. However he refused permission. My Bill also extended the freeze on delimitation till 2051 and required ratification of 2/3rd majority of States to reallocate Lok Sabha seats. The Government did not support this Bill. What could have been done so simply was turned into a complicated affair because the BJP has no intention of implementing Women's Reservation. This proves beyond doubt that the BJP led NDA only wants to play politics in the name of #NariShakti and sneak in #delimitation. Instead of shouting from the rooptops, I challenge the BJP to adopt my PMB or bring a Bill similar to mine to implement Women's Reservation without 'ifs and buts' and linkage to delimitation or census. If they can't, it's further proof that BJP is Bharatiya Jumla Party.

BREAKING | Lok Sabha REJECTS the Constitutional (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 which sought to expand the strength of the House from 543 to 850 seats and allow delimitation of seats based on pre-2026 Census.

The 3 bills considered today by Lok Sabha were: - Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 - Delimitation Bill, 2026 - Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill Not sure why these are being termed Women’s Reservation Bill which was already passed by parliament in 2023.
