Today, I trained staff at the News Agency of Nigeria, Lagos newsroom, on building an AI-savvy newsroom. Last year, when the management was looking to build the capacity of its staff to ensure they are abreast of AI technology to enhance their work, while also keeping in mind the ethics and challenges of AI, Christiana Fadare recommended @JournoTECHworld and reached out. I said, “Oh yes, that’s part of the work we do at JournoTECH.” So today, I taught them several ways and tools to improve their wire services reporting with speed and accuracy while reducing the burnout journalists face in our daily reporting. Thank you, Christiana, for recommending us, and thank you to the management for thinking about building the capacity of the staff.

Been in the UK for a week, met some great people and since I've been here... • Lobster Capital got its 10th markup on our portfolio (/36) • Another YC company has gone public (Meesho S16) • EquipmentShare filed their S-1 to go public (W15 batch) • Boom Supersonic (W16) raises $300M • Bun (S19) has been acquired by Anthropic Wild week. YC companies keep proving why this is the best ecosystem to invest in.

So, miraculously a dependent application under SOC 6135 without a child in the UK was approved yesterday and I am still wondering what I did differently that made HO approved this application. I have reviewed the form and representation and there is nothing different from previous application. I don’t want to believe that HO is beginning to accept that it is impossible for them to separate family who are already in the UK. I’m keeping an eye on similar applications in the coming weeks/months. We are also getting head to head with HO on this issue at the Upper Tribunal on 22 December. Wish me luck guys

For those of u who need a motivational boost after YC rejections, here’s our list of accelerator rejections the past few months. April-June (still working on gymii) - a16z speedrun - 4 interviews, rejected - YC s25- interviewed, rejected July onwards (pivoted to bubble lab) - YC f25: interviewed, rejected - sequoia arc: interviewed, ghosted - a16z speedrun: interviewed, rejected - PearX: interviewed 3 rounds + multiple add on checkups, was still ongoing use the rejection as motivation. keep building!!

today is YC rejection day if you got rejected, I’ve been there here is our F24 rejection email, and we just wrapped up F25 a no is one data point, not the full story even if your startup succeeds, this will not be the last time you hear no. PMF is a long, difficult path each no can make you stronger. turning it into fuel is a superpower use this moment to push even harder YC changed our lives. it can still change yours
