If he performs like he did last season, fine maybe that contract is worth it, but i doubt that’ll be his production over the next 5 years

After the Mets let Edwin Diaz get away on December 9th, David Stearns ramped up efforts to acquire Hispanic players so that Juan Soto could not enact his opt-out clause if the roster dipped below 39%. By this measure the offseason since then has been a resounding success.

Per Source: After losing Edwin Diaz to free agency, Mets OFer Juan Soto is seriously considering an opt-out clause in his massive contract. Soto's opt-out clause can be enacted if the Mets do not maintain a 26 man roster that consists of 39% Hispanic players at any given time.
