Ever wondered why prices are still high even when we say inflation is under control? Governor Atingi-Ego answers exactly that — simply! "We are not targeting prices. We are targeting inflation — the rate at which prices increase." Currently at 3.0% (core inflation), Uganda's inflation remains below the 5% medium-term target. That's good news - even if it doesn't feel like it at the checkout! Read the full MPS May 2026: ow.ly/owR650Z3682 Watch the full press conference: ow.ly/QXkI50Z3681 #BOUConnects

Yesterday, I joined thousands of mourners, local and national leaders in Kayunga to pay our last respects and bid farewell to the late Chairman Kaliisa Karangwa (RIP). His dedication, leadership, and service to the people and the NRM fraternity will forever be remembered. We have lost a committed patriot whose contribution to our community touched many lives. My deepest condolences go to his family, friends, relatives, and the entire NRM fraternity during this difficult time. To his family May the Almighty grant you strength, comfort, and peace as we mourn this great loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

In June 2013, I wanted to contest for the @OfficialFUFA Presidency. The law was quickly amended to keep me out. I am back to say I am still available for that task. I can bring about the footballing glory all we Ugandans dream of. Time to save our football from thieves. Let’s take back our game

@NoorNakato1 There more banyankole speaking luganda than the reverse. The distinct dichotomy among our languages makes it hard for one to exit the borders of their language groups too

I asked a friend who has lived in South Africa for years how xenophobia there often works. How do they immediately know someone is not South African? She said: “They speak to you in a local language. If you can’t respond, they know you’re a foreigner.” And that got me thinking. What is it about us Ugandans that makes us so comfortable staying within the borders of our own language groups? A Munyankole won’t learn Luganda. A Muganda won’t learn Luo. A Musoga won’t learn Runyoro. Yet we expect the world to open up to us while we remain closed to each other. Language is more than words. Sometimes it is survival. Sometimes it is the difference between being welcomed and being treated like an outsider. So I keep asking myself: Is it not time we got out of our comfort zones?

In the event of an accident, a hospital like Kayunga should be able to stabilise a patient before making a referral! To hurry to refer without stabilisation, what was it that the hospital lacks to hurry to refer a person who needed support?

Uganda's Oil: My Usual optimistic view ! Uganda enters oil production at perhaps the most consequential juncture in global energy markets in decades. And I say this not as a talking point. I say it because the numbers, the infrastructure progress, and the geopolitical moment all point in the same direction at the same time. The Petroleum Authority has confirmed first oil by end of July 2026, with first exports expected in October. We have drilled beyond target. Tilenga required 170 wells and has achieved 198. Kingfisher required 19 wells for first oil and has achieved 21. The EACOP pipeline stands at 82% completion, with the marine jetty at 88.1%. We are not talking about prospects anymore. We are talking about months. Now consider the world we are entering. A war in the Middle East has created the largest oil supply disruption in recorded history, with flows through the Strait of Hormuz carrying nearly 20 million barrels per day reduced to a trickle. Brent crude averaged $117 per barrel in April, with daily prices spiking to $138, the highest in four years. Global buyers are scrambling. India is actively pursuing more barrels from Africa. European refiners are reorienting toward Atlantic basin and West African producers. Uganda's crude, routed through Tanga, arrives precisely into that gap. At plateau production, Uganda stands to generate between $1 billion and $2.5 billion annually from oil revenues. At today's prices, we could exceed that upper bound in year one. We have waited twenty years for this. The infrastructure is built. The market needs us. What Uganda owes itself now is one thing only: disciplined execution.

The Need for Intentional Cadre Development by Political Parties- Case of Anita Annet Among The story of Anita Annet Among captures a familiar political arc: a rise from humble beginnings to immense national power, followed by a sharp fall triggered by allegations of greed, excess, and ethical failure. Her ascent symbolised possibility and resilience, but her tenure at the peak of power became overshadowed by accusations of corruption, controversial legislation, international sanctions, and declining public trust. Beyond the individual, the episode exposes a deeper structural weakness in Uganda’s political system; and in many others like it. Political parties often prioritise loyalty, mobilisation skills, and short-term expediency over deliberate cadre development. When parties fail to systematically identify, train, ethically ground, and properly place cadres, power ends up in the hands of individuals who may lack institutional discipline, ideological restraint, or respect for accountability. Effective cadre systems are meant to produce leaders who understand that public office is stewardship, not entitlement. Without such preparation, ambition easily mutates into greed, and authority into impunity. Among’s trajectory thus serves not only as a personal cautionary tale, but as a warning to political parties: neglecting cadre formation ultimately weakens governance, damages party credibility, and destabilises the state itself. In the end, sustainable leadership is not accidental. It is built through intentional recruitment, continuous training, ethical enforcement, and careful placement of those entrusted with power.
