The Judge finally asked Johnny Somali for any reason why he shouldn't go to prison, he said, "I have family back home, I need to chance to change my life as a young person, and a second chance to do better" He also added "Throughout the court proceedings, I have not done any acts to offend anyone, which shows I learned a lesson" - this of course is a LIE, as he was documented committing several crimes during the course of the trial. The Judge simply listened and said "Are you finished?" then proceeded to the detention order.

@infantrydort I was raised Catholic but I haven't been to a mass since high school. Every time I consider returning I am reminded that the Church will always make the absolute most abhorrent choices at every possible turn while also being abject cowards.

I’m unsure why this latest assault on the sovereignty of the West is now coming from the Catholic Church itself, but I find the hypocrisy concerning. Where was all this grandstanding when over 1,400 girls were groomed, raped, and trafficked by Pakistani gangs in Rotherham, UK (authorities and many Church voices stayed largely silent for years to avoid “racism” accusations? And that’s just one example. Something about these words from the 60 Minutes cardinals feels sinister to me. I’m not an authority on faith and never will be. But there’s something dark behind the words of these priests I can’t put my finger on. Like wolves wrapped in sheep’s clothing. This is not heaven, this is earth. We are under no obligation to hasten our own destruction. Unless of course their goal is to rush toward Armageddon. In that case just say it with your damn chest instead of shrouding your cowardice in virtue.

@WomanDefiner I just think it's funny because Trump has never been a Catholic or claimed to be one, it's not like he has any allegiance to the Pope. As far as Trump is concerned the Pope is fair game, he has never discriminated.

There are 2 things that are true this morning and I'm going to say them as a Catholic. The Catholic church keeps taking shots at Trump and thinks the Church shields them from playing politics, It doesn't. If they want to wade into American politics than Trump gets to take shots at them. Secondly, Trump shouldn't have posted a picture depicting himself as Jesus.

funniest part of the 60 minutes interview with the catholic bishops was when norah o'donnell said "the iranian regime the world's foremost sponsor of terrorism" and one of the bishops said "yes they're horrible and should be removed, but we oppose this specific way of doing it"
