@there_is_no_if And the ground effect cars absolutely destroyed f1. They couldn’t even race on a damp track. I watched every Grand Prix for nearly twenty years and watched 3 at most last year

@Techne99 @ElPredestinato The reason they’ve put the testing back until half way through the season is because they know it won’t. Otherwise test now. Shame as it’s ruined this season. I like Mercedes and George. I just want good racing

@Elpablopoolboy @ElPredestinato hmm good argument there However there is no formal proof they're not in the rules, unless the test is conducted. It's only rumors so far. Mercedes could really benefit from that story to make everyone focus on that You still can't say they cheat until proven.

This is gone be such a boring season unless Mercedes have terrible reliability. But they genuinely have a 5 tenth advantage so they can afford to turn the engine down. FIA have cooked the sport by letting them cheat for half the season

🚨 | Lewis Hamilton on Mercedes’ compression ratio: “What’s clear is that they didn’t show the engine power through any of the practice because of the whole talk on the compression issue. They’ve done a really solid job with their engine, which we have as well but I’m trying to understand why it's 2 tenths or more just through power per sector... And so, if it is the compression thing, I wanna understand why the FIA haven't done anything [or] what’s being done to rectify it.”

@Techne99 @ElPredestinato While the rules state that “no cylinder of the engine may have a geometric compression ratio higher than 16.0“. According to your logic Lance Armstrong did nothing wrong and has wrongfully been stripped of his 7 TDF because he never tested positive…

@Elpablopoolboy @ElPredestinato But that's not how it works. The rule you're quoting is verified using a test. If the test is conform, the engine is legal. The test was conform, so it's legal. The tests are defined to ensure the rules are respected. Since it is conform, the rules are respected. Dont' overthink

@k61077 @BAF2254 @fiagirly There really wasn’t. They designed the engine in a different but legal way which gave a huge advantage. They also have other teams extra development to catch up. This engine is illegal

Whoa, blast from the past! 🏎️ We're back in 2014, the start of the hybrid era in F1! Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are teaming up at Mercedes, while Sebastian Vettel is looking to defend his title with Red Bull Racing. Would you like to know more about the 2014 season or a specific team/driver?

@Techne99 @ElPredestinato The rules state 16:1 at all times and they can test and prove that today. They could legally test and disqualify today. This isn’t a loophole. They’ve been caught cheating. But because they were so far into development when caught and supply others they’ve been given time to fix

@Elpablopoolboy @ElPredestinato The test was designed beforehand of the season. And the test shows it's 16:1. If the test is not representative of the real performance of the car, then it's FIA's fault. They can't prove it unless the FIA changes the rules they wrote themselves to cover to loophole

@Techne99 @ElPredestinato They can test that and prove it today. The only reason they don’t is because Mercedes engines would be screwed and therefore half of the grid would be.

@natesaundersF1 The ground effect cars were the worst ever produced. Killed wet weather racing. They need big engines, naturally aspirated. Low downforce and high mechanical grip in smaller cars. Haven’t watched for over a year now and won’t for the foreseeable future

Don't think I've ever been to a media pen like that in my life. These drivers absolutely hate these new cars. Remarkable stuff. Max said he's having no fun. Lando said F1 has gone from best cars ever to worst.

@F1zay23 @Jaay243 @pinsaroulette16 It’s not a loophole. The rules clearly state 16:1 at all times. The testing was done under the assumption that the teams would have a 16:1 ratio at all times. They could easily test at higher temperatures and disqualify the Mercedes engines. But that means half the grid are done

@Elpablopoolboy @ElPredestinato It's a 16:1 compression ratio when on a bench test. There's no rule violation. It's the FIA bench test that was lacking. Blame the FIA for not seeing it coming. It's a loophole !

@ElPredestinato This is not cheating. They found a loophole they found a way to exploit it, they made it work while everyone else didn't even have the idea. This is just genius engineering. That's how you win. Now will it be boring ? Most likely like every major rule change since the beginning

The Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson are at a crossroads, columnist Mike Preston writes. Is a trade possible? Jackson is expected to make $74.5 million in 2026 and 2027, which would make him the highest-paid signal-caller in the league. But here is a suggestion for Baltimore: maybe it should call in former Ravens greats like middle linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Rod Woodson, who played 17 years, to speak with Jackson about extending his eight-year career. The injuries have come because he plays quarterback in the NFL, and he’s the best dual-threat player in the history of the league. He missed three games because of a hamstring injury, and then knee, ankle and toe problems forced him to miss a day of practice every week afterward. Now he has a back contusion. @Elpablopoolboy @goated_footy @F1BigData When was the Ferrari a rocket? At what point? It had some great straight line speed at a period of the season however if you think that’s what makes a car fast, then I’ve got some news for you 🤣

@Elpablopoolboy @goated_footy @F1BigData “Hamilton finishes strong” or the Mercedes out developed their rivals? Certainly a case of development in 17 and 18 whilst he had a rocket from Brazil onwards in 21 after an equal battle up till then. Ferrari absolutely fluffed their development in 17 and 18

@RoverZealous23 @goated_footy @F1BigData I watched each race live and the oil burning Ferrari was much faster, hence holding multiple circuit records. And Merc did catch up in 21 but that also fails to account for the fact that Hamilton always finished seasons incredibly strong. Lewis and Max are two undisputed greats.

@Elpablopoolboy @goated_footy @F1BigData You realise a top speed isn’t everything if the downforce is so much better? Go watch each race back and then we can talk. 21, Red Bull were faster first half, Merc faster second half and an absolute rocket from Brazil onwards

@Elpablopoolboy @goated_footy @F1BigData Utter bullshit haha. They were closer in 2017 but Merc were still faster and in 2018, for half a season they were as fast but fell away massively. You can not argue otherwise
