@theisaacmed As my boomer of a boss would say “it’s the fucking yuppies moving here that are making Austin terrible” which I disagree. But he’s always ranting how horrible Austin is compared to the 70’s and 80’s 😂

I spent a few days in Austin last week and I now understand the hype. I was shocked by the cheap real estate prices. Downtown is lively. Amazing Mexican food. Lots of housing inventory. Decent folks everywhere. Lots of jobs. The only cons I can really think of are the weather. Every time I have been it’s sucked. Last week was fog and rain. A few years ago was a giant freeze that made the power grid collapse. Also property taxes. Is there anything else I’m missing?

Dylan Sprouse really thinks he’s in an action movie because he tackled a guy with existing warrants. Holding someone at gunpoint isn't bravery, it’s just a rich guy in the Hollywood Hills desperate to prove he’s more than a former Disney kid. We’re one Zack & Cody reboot away from him thinking he’s Batman.

Dylan Sprouse held a trespasser at gunpoint before tackling him and pinning him to the ground until police arrived at his Hollywood Hills home. Wife Barbara Palvin, who was home at the time, called 911 reporting the attempted burglary. The suspect was arrested on existing warrants.

The Dallas City Hall may be torn down and replaced with a sports arena and entertainment district. Good. I used to work in this building. The brutalist architecture and horrific, anti-human urban design surrounding it sucks the life out of a huge swath of downtown. I don't care what famous architect designed it. It's a bad building set within a bad plaza. Tear it down for something that actually contributes to the City.

BREAKING: The trailer for Focker-In-Law just dropped. Robert De Niro & Ben Stiller are back. I couldn’t be more excited. I love all 3 of these films & can’t wait for this to come out in November. I also love that Ariana Grande is in this- she can absolutely act. So ready for this

Dallas is the only city in the world that would tear down something built I. M. Pei, the same guy that built **checks notes**, the fucking Louvre pyramid. The Mavs can pick any empty parking lot around Downtown or Uptown to build their stadium
The Architect's Newspaper@archpaper

The Dallas Mavericks are expected to submit a proposal soon that entails demolishing Dallas City Hall, designed by I. M. Pei, and in its place building a new 50-acre entertainment district, anchored by a new NBA arena. ow.ly/lFGm50YJ3YI

@Asirted @Blacklist__22 @MrBeast @Awk20000 That’s because we don’t have a water issue in America. Anyone can go buy a case of water. Obviously a lifetime of water issue is more prevalent in a third world country than America. I swear y’all find anything to bitch about. Have this energy with the president and your senators

Jynxzi calls MrBeast’s TeamWater stream “one of the most uncomfortable weird” streams of all time "Basically MrBeast pressuring ppl into donating to TeamWater which is a great cause..but at end of day..if TeamWater raises 100M..who gets the credit..who's going to make the tweet..MrBeast..we're all donating, he's getting all the credit..but we're all getting pressured..in front of hundreds of thousands of ppl" "At end of day it goes to a good cause so idrc..but that's all this stream is..this stream was just excruciating"

@MrBeast @Awk20000 My problem with Mr beast is he does nothing for his own country while running around helping other countries we do not benefit from. You shits on poor American and homeless people when he does this stuff. If you hate your own country then why do you live here bud? Help your OWN!

@wesway94 @Valitskim They live in downtown Austin in a high rise the wife is retired but her husband works in tech and his job is in downtown and he loves walking to work. I aspire to be like them because the man has been an engineer since the late 70s and still works as an engineer to this day.

@wesway94 @Valitskim I know an older couple who lived in Austin Tx in late 60’s and early 70s while they were attending UT Austin and they personally love what’s happening to Austin. And they were hippies in that era too which shocked me.

@Valitskim Many Texans want this version of Austin back (about 20-25 years ago, before the out of staters conquered it).

Met a guy recently. Just retired at 63. $2M saved. House paid off. Zero debt. Did everything right for 30 years. Claimed Social Security early. Started pulling $110,000 a year from his IRA. Nobody told him those two decisions would collide. 85% of his Social Security is now taxable. His bracket jumped. Tax bill his first year of retirement was bigger than when he had a paycheck. And in two years when he hits 65 and goes on Medicare, IRMAA kicks in and his premiums spike on top of it. His advisor never saw it coming. Who was supposed to catch that?

@afamilyforjesus @dennishegstad I actually know a retired banker and his wife that lived in Austin in the early 70s while they were attending UT Austin. They personally love what’s happening with Austin. They were both hippies in the 60s/70s. They’re on the older side but very much have a young spirit.

@dennishegstad I hope you had a chance to visit Austin years before you moved there. The City of Austin was so much better in every way. I feel like it died around 2016… though many would argue far before that.

This weekend marks 7 years since I moved to Austin, TX after spending 9 years living in Los Angeles. I wouldn’t change anything. I absolutely love it here. Good life/work balance. Lots of active people. Incredible food options. Innovative tech companies. Lots of stuff to do. Relatively affordable. We have room for improvement like all cities but I can’t really see myself anywhere else in the United States

@moseskagan I’m hoping with ATT leaving downtown that the city of Dallas and developers will start pushing to convert old office buildings to housing. Coupled with the hopes of the Dallas mavericks stadium moving to downtown that would surely be a game changer for the city.
