@hjluks Interesting. After my hysterectomy for adenomyosis, I asked my surgeon if a tendon in my hip or leg had been cut because of the relief. She laughed and said no. My periods caused that same radiating leg pain. A reminder of the need for a whole-body approach.

Most lateral hip pain isn't a structural disaster. It's a tendon that wasn't prepared for the demands placed on it. Build that preparation, and most people return to everything they care about. Pain on the outside of your hip is one of the most common problems I see in my practice. Walkers get it. Runners get it. People who've never been to a gym get it. For decades, we called it bursitis and injected it. We were treating the wrong thing.

Wow, this is amazing progress that "we" collectively worked hard to achieve! Neurologic and psychiatric manifestations of MCAS are numerous, but are very rarely talked about in psychiatry or neurology. Our 2 recent papers on the topic are below: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… mdpi.com/2075-4426/13/1… #BrainHealth @AANmember #MedTwitter #Neurology #Psychiatry

What if 'medication-intolerant' anxiety patients aren't just 'difficult' or borderline—but dealing with mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)?

@ka1tIyn11 I mean, there are no formally approved meds for persistent EBV reactivation. Repurposing TDF/TAF is a bit experimental, but there's some research on it like pnas.org/doi/abs/10.107… TAF is stronger than TDF, but they both work. Since I'm already on it, I might as well just try.

Switching over from Truvada to Descovy for 3 months as a trial run post-Pemgarda. I have very high EBV antibodies and possible recent reactivation, along with symptoms that match low-level activation effects. TAF Tenofovir is more effective for EBV than TDF. Let's see how this goes!

🔬Most people think mast cells are only involved in allergies or rare conditions like MCAS or mastocytosis. That’s incorrect. Research shows mast cells are active in many diseases, including neurodegenerative, autoimmune, infectious, heart, gut, and mental health conditions🧵
