Here're my day 1 Crimson Desert thoughts: - If you're playing this game for the story, just don't (feels like background, and gameplay carries a game any day) - Combat can be really fun, despite some jank that might trip you up - Combat is VERY open as to how you wanna play, and this is ... FUN - World looks fucking insane (waterfall dev had a fucking stroke though lol) - Tons to do, shit to grind, upgrades to have, shit to buy/sell - Puzzles are really dope so far - Boss fights have a nice challenge with cool mechanics so far - Starts off kinda rough/slow, with little things that can annoy you or make you feel anxious - Many input discrepancies that make basic things tedious, annoying, or anti-QOL (such as weapon unsheathing, interacting, lantern stuff, sprinting/jumping, and other various inputs that are more annoying than they need to be) Once you get through the initial phase, you get into a groove where the game gives off MMO solo chill vibes and adventure RPG vibes. You could spend all day doing absolutely nothing, or you could spend all day in combat. Imo, the game def isn't a fail like some make it out to be. Just not true. But it's also not quite living up to its 10/10 expectations. It's somewhere in the middle, but it's very playable and a solid time after one day. Of course, any opinions can and will change. Cheers.

@matty50cal @FeedeeOfficial @iTzRease Its 6 hours of slow burn introducing a lot of systems and mechanics, the combat gets a lot more difficult after chapter 3, but the entire starter and starter ish area is huge and can take 10h+ to get finished with, the scale of the game is just massive, probably a 150-200h game

Avowed and other games also tallied as a success people are just thinking of it isn’t the next big thing it’s bad, but in reality marathon is fun with deep systems. Basicly a more brutal arc raiders

"It's a niche genre, they never expected huge numbers or mainstream appeal" is massive cope when a big western AAA studio releases something and its player numbers collapse shortly after release. They all want huge numbers and mainstream audiences. It's built into the companies management, budgeting and expectations. None of them are making games costing multi-millions hoping to have an audience of 50k on release week.
