President Trump, please encourage Congress to act quickly as, flag Day is June 14th, 6 days away. The best gift that the legislative and executive branch of the government can give to the country would be to deliver the major Richard Star act for our our combat disabled veterans and sign it into law on flag Day... Every month that goes by is millions of dollars out of the pockets of these veteran. Many of whom have already sacrificed hundreds of thousands of dollars. All because they were wounded. @POTUS endorse the major Richard Star act and sign it into law on flag Day and give yourself the best birthday present of them all.. complete the contract that our veteran's signed with their blood. We can't wait another month. @realDonaldTrump

Please allow members from the house and Senate to offer amendments for alternative payfors. This way we could restore integrity into my brother. But the bill is not about him, he is dead now. It is about the 59,000 that are still living. They need benefits now. The minority in the Senate will not pass this bill as is. I implore you remove the pay caps + offs the major Richard Star act with department of war/ department of defense offsets. National defense committee has provided on multiple occasions suggested offsets that does not remove jobs from your districts. You could push this through the house now, but it will be stalled in the Senate or you can fix it and have an opportunity for it to be signed into law.

MRSA / H.R. 2102 is still the cleanest full fix. Nobody should stop pushing it. But if leadership keeps bottling it up, veterans need every viable lane open: MRSA, TCAVA, and NDAA Amendment 947. The immediate fight is simple: Rules must make Amendment 947 in order so members have to vote.

A bill that… ✂️ Cuts VA red tape ⚕️ Expands veterans’ health care options 🔍 Holds government agencies accountable The Take Care of America’s Veterans Act isn’t a quick fix, but a permanent solution. Voting for it should be a no-brainer.

@EmingtonMichael That's 2 pressure release valves now from the discharge petition. I see clearly.

BREAKING VETERANS POLICY WATCH: A third path has emerged to fix the concurrent receipt penalty for combat-wounded medical retirees. NDAA Amendment 947, filed by Rep. Bilirakis, would allow eligible Chapter 61 disability retirees with combat-related disabilities to receive both VA disability compensation and military retired pay. It also creates a retired-pay floor of no less than 50% of retired pay base. This matters because the Major Richard Star Act discharge petition is stalled short of 218 signatures, while the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act is caught in controversy over offsets. Amendment 947 is the clean NDAA route. The next question: will House Rules make Amendment 947 “in order” for a floor vote? Combat-wounded veterans should not lose their earned military retirement because they were medically forced out before 20 years.

@54KVeterans Sigh… your missing the point brother. There’s another vehicle. We can either talk about it make it better or it can go away. Like time before.

Amendment 947 wasn’t filed by a random member. It was filed by Rep. Gus Bilirakis — the lead House sponsor of the Major Richard Star Act and Speaker Johnson’s Veterans Affairs advisor. That could mean the NDAA route is real. But without a PAYGO/CUTGO fix, leadership still has to make it in order or protect it. This is where we find out if Congress actually wants a vote.

Why is nobody talking about the NDAA route? Amendment 947 to the FY2027 NDAA would immediately fix the VA offset for combat‑wounded Chapter 61 retirees under 20 years. No drama. No gridlock. No offsets. It’s filed. It exists. It works. So why is it being ignored? #NDAA #MajorRichardStarAct #Veterans

@EmingtonMichael Because without being attached to massive bill with millions for donors to peddle back to politicians, the politicians won't vote for it. That's the main reason the VA budget has grown 3x service member pay over the last 20 years. Our politicians are by and large self serving.

So... For all those calling on Congress to separate out and pass a "clean" Richard Star act, here's some reality: 1. There's not enough time left this Congress to separate and pass two major veterans bills. 2. It took significant negotiating to get to a TCAVA that will pass both houses & 3. "Star" won't pass the Senate. Do you really want to sacrifice all the health benefits for vets in the current bill, only to fail to pass anything?
John Byrnes@JohnByrnes13

So... Lot's (I mean lot's) of #Veterans groups are coming out against Taking Care of America's Veterans Act. Objecting because it "waters down" the Major Richard Star Act (expanding current benefits for medically retired vets) and reforms disability criteria for future claimants with Tinnitus and Apnea. Here's what there against:

As your constituent, I completely agree that the American people deserve truth and transparency. I deeply appreciate your support as a cosponsor of the standalone #MajorRichardStarAct. Since H.Res. 1247 is now only 5 signatures away from success, many combat-injured veterans in South Carolina are looking for an update. You aren't a cosponsor of the omnibus package, and you’ve already backed the standalone bill. Do you still support completing the discharge petition so the House can finally vote? Transparency on this would mean a lot to SC vets.
