@PharmacyToDose Wow this sounds like such a good lecture! Especially for helping residents understand different imaging and what it shows. Is there anywhere to pay to listen to it?

And is this 2020 ASRA checklist what others follow? Seems like the fixed doses for wt >70 kg was recommended to simplify things

There is an IV fluids shortage (0.9% MS & LR) due to hurricane Helene. Because of the shortage everyone should stop ordering routine maintenance fluids for the next 2-4 weeks. Because of good medical practice everyone should stop ordering routine maintenance fluids forever.

In a retrospective cohort study at 12 hospitals (2017-2019), 25,560 out of 35,415 (72%) patients who received antibiotics within 3hrs of SIRS did not meet “true sepsis” definition. These “overtreated” patients had longer LOS and higher rates of C diff. academic.oup.com/cid/advance-ar…

@catxkuhlman I do not! But I feel like the value I could provide at my institution IV wise is if I was trained in ultrasound IVs! Feels like everyone is a hard stick here and that’s what they always need.

Are there any ED pharmacists out there that have learned how to start IVs and have incorporated it into their practice? 👀

What is your favorite “Department of Public Health has entered the chat” you have witnessed? I’ll go first “Can of PAM vegetable spray was found in the endoscopy suite. Per staff, GI doc uses it all the time” ..and somehow this falls under pharmacy?? #EMRx #TwitteRx

@AndreaSikora I do think another factor is that, especially for large programs, preceptors can only come up with so many ideas for research and not all are worth publishing. Coming up with ~10 publishable ideas every year for 1 program feels impossible. Plus there’s thousands of programs.

~90% of pharmacy residency projects do not go onto publication This indicates that we have a process that is not teaching high quality scientific / scholarship methods OR a process that is not in alignment with the true goal (e.g., an understanding of the quality improvement process). The BEST way to publish is to work with those who have published before. doi.org/10.1093/ajhp/z… @AJHPOfficial @AFlanneryPharmD @ASHPOfficial @ACCP
