Condoled with my dear sister and friend, @HonJumwa, and her family following the loss of her mother Mama Sidi Karisa Katana in Kilifi. Mama Sidi’s life was anchored in family values and quiet strength; she raised, guided and shaped those around her with wisdom. My thoughts and prayers are with Aisha and the entire family, and I pray that God grants them grace and peace as they walk through this season. #RIP

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has intensified its mission to uphold professional standards and protect the public from unqualified individuals posing as advocates. Acting on numerous public complaints, the Society conducted a targeted enforcement operation in Malindi, Kilifi County, where several unauthorized legal offices were shut down.
The operation was led by LSK Vice President @mwaurakab , Council Member @twavinya (Co-convener, Practice Standards Committee), and Siry Kiponda, Chairperson of the LSK Malindi Chapter. Upon investigation, the team uncovered cases where clerks were impersonating advocates and handling sensitive legal matters in cyber cafés, an alarming violation of legal ethics and client confidentiality.
Following the findings, the LSK issued closure notices effective October 23, 2025, to all offices operating without duly admitted advocates or registered legal assistants. The Society has further cautioned that individuals or offices evading inspection will face legal action.
Ms. Wavinya reported that some impersonators fled after being tipped off about the operation, while Mr. Kabata reaffirmed the LSK’s unwavering commitment to restoring public trust and safeguarding the dignity and integrity of Kenya's legal profession.
This enforcement initiative forms part of a wider national strategy by the LSK Practice Standards and Ethics (PSE) Committee, carried out in collaboration with the LSK Malindi Chapter, to eradicate unqualified practice and protect the public from legal malpractice.
In strengthening regulatory oversight, the LSK Council through the PSE Committee, is empowering all Branches, Chapters, and Centers across the country to operationalize active Practice Standards and Ethics Committees. These committees will receive support and funding to establish Rapid Action Teams (R.A.T.), enabling swift intervention in matters of professional misconduct and ethical breaches.
The LSK urges members of the public to verify the credentials of legal practitioners through the official portal: online.lsk.or.ke,
and to report any suspicious or unauthorized legal activity to the nearest LSK office.

When will @KenyaPower_Care @KenyaPower address the endless power outages in Kilifi and many other regions of the Coast province? We are having power outages on average of 3 to 4 days a week. When will KPLC address this problem?

We hosted a town hall with Charlene Ruto, Dr. Joe Bonga, Sharleen Wambui, and James Kahindi. We talked about youth mental health, getting young people into jobs, and making sure their voices count in decision-making. Thank you to our founder Nina for believing in Kilifi’s youths

TODAY MARKS A HISTORIC CHAPTER IN MY JOURNEY-MY ADMISSION TO THE BAR AS AN ADVOCATE OF THE HIGH COURT OF KENYA.
Growing up in the slums of Nyalenda, I noticed with deep concern the constant harassment and humiliation of ordinary Kenyans in the brutal hands of law enforcement agencies most of the time without a clue of what their constitutional rights were.
My mother got arrested severally and instead of being arraigned in court would be beaten up by police to pay a bribe from her meagre chang’aa sales proceeds.
This has pushed me over the years to study and appreciate the laws of Kenya and their role in safeguarding justice, both procedural and substantive.
This achievement is not about personal grandiosity. It is about sharpening the tools of service. The law is now a new battlefield where I will fight even harder for justice, equity, and the rights of the common mwananchi.
The Government should brace itself for more lethal arguments in defense of Kenyans—both in Parliament and now in court. Expect legal action aimed at lowering the cost of living, creating jobs, and holding systems accountable.
The revolution continues—now with a gown and a gavel.
So, help me, God.
