The problem with macroevolution is that all the pieces need to work together without ever 'agreeing' in a method. If I made a language (like DNA), but no one else spoke it, then what good is it? Why would I even make a language if it can't be understood? HOW would I know to make a language at all? Unless somehow all these proteins, acids, etc all just linked together at the same time and 'understood' what each's role was by chance, then you can't explain 'chance and time' as a way life came about.
Divinely Designed@DivinelyDesined

This is DNA Replication. It requires 9 specific molecular machines to function, plus the DNA itself. Lose any one, and the whole process fails. It's an irreducibly complex system - without which, Life is impossible. It's dumb to think this arose by accident.

The Fifth Circuit just told millions of women that three judges know better than the FDA, their doctors, and 25 years of evidence. They don't. This restriction on medication abortion is a nationwide abortion restriction, full stop. I have no intention of letting this stand.

God revealed himself to the Jews in Egypt with so many signs and wonders. Parted the sea. 40 years in the wilderness with manna for food falling on their heads. They heard the voice of God and were in utter fear. And then they hedged their bets and made a golden calf, complained, disbelieved. If all that physical evidence was still not enough for them, do you think that you yourself are so much better? Among many other things, the Old Testament is a history of people hearing from God and then saying, "That's not bad, but check out my way." I try not to, but there's a history of me doing the same. It's not physical evidence, it is the softened heart over the stiff neck we all have to some degree.

If you think it's evil, that God doesn't reveal Himself to you more directly, or more persuasively, or in more ways, you're actually presupposing a standard that this God ought to do this. Well, where are you getting this ought from?

@GovernorShapiro Healthcare that kills an unborn human baby? Stop with the euphemisms. You approve of keeping the destruction of human life legal in Pennsylvania for the convenience of the mother.

Abortion is health care. That includes medication abortion. And despite yesterday’s ruling, abortion — and mifepristone — remain legal here in Pennsylvania.  Visit pa.gov/freedomtochoose for up-to-date information and resources on how you can access the care you need as we prepare to take action against this dangerous ruling.

Mark 12:38-40 and Luke 20:46 talk about those who like to walk around in long robes in order to 'flex' their social, economic, and religious position. I see that on display looking even prouder than a Pharisee. Luke 16:19 talks about purple and fine linen. Purple, being an expensive dye. My concern is with the institution's ignorance of these verses or apathy towards holding them, but perhaps I am mistaken and those are humble clothes. And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.” (Mark 12:38-40)

If I may... NOTE: This is all my own assessment on the topic and should be checked against the texts for validity and against error. Let's go back to 1 Corinthians 12:27-30 for context: "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way." Paul is contrasting roles and gifts. Some people are apostles, others might be prophets, others are teachers. Some work miracles, some heal, some speak in tongues, others interpret tongues. All want higher gifts. But then Paul says there is a more excellent way - or gift. In 1 Corinthians 13 Paul starts out by comparing those gifts to love, and every time love is the greater gift. Your focus is on, "When the perfect comes, the partial will pass away." As the church grows there was less need for miracles, healing, etc. One might ask why, and it might seem strange to have gifts removed and call it better, but let's recall Jesus' words to Thomas, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29) For the unbeliever, there is no gift at all and that includes the love God allows us to use. For instance, Jeremiah 17:9 clearly says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" Jesus says this too in Mark 7:14-23, "And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.” And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.) And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” So love, not all the other gifts, is the most miraculous gift we can have as it transforms the heart of stone and gives us a new heart that points to God. The full sentence is 1 Corinthians 13:9 and 10. "For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away." Those gifts are partial, they are not full. Only the gift of love is full. Now we can look forward from that sentence to see what else Paul was talking about and see if there's more context (1 Corinthians 13:11-13): "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love." He's talking about growth and progress. He starts by talking about his own human life. Then he talks about being able to only see one's self dimly in a mirror. This means that what we see isn't the finished work perfected by God, but we see where we are at in our imperfect state. Regardless of what ever ability you have (or none at all) all believers have the greatest gift already: Love. Again, contrast what the Bible says about the human heart and then what Paul proclaims about believers. Believers are changed and also changing, growing, becoming more Christlike. Believers are set apart from the rest. Love doesn't mean accepting sin or ignoring church order and discipline, more like what is said in 1 Peter 3:13-16: "Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame." Gentleness and respect show our love. I know this is long, and if you read this far I hope this helps.

To start: I'm not necessarily for some single payer European government model of healthcare. I'm also not for how things are going on here. My situation is worse than some of these posts but not as bad as others, so I'll leave it at that. What I fear is, if we don't solve this soon, the most wildly radical progressives will offer a 'solution,' and since no one else is offering anything, people will vote for something crazy in desperation. And right now, it's difficult to blame them. For instance, I love the US for the amazing quality of care it can provide. 100%. We know this is true since people from around the world come here for specialized care. But I don't need the 'Rolls Royce' expenses when my kids have lingering coughs and the provider wants to charge a few hundred to listen to their lungs and send them home with the advice to get some OTC cough syrup. I just want to make sure we can avoid chronic or permanently damaging lung problems. I don't need the 'Rolls Royce' expenses for taking care of most things, like sprained ankles, illnesses that antibiotics will fix, etc. There is no specialized care, so why the excessive fees? I do appreciate the 'Rolls Royce' care package if I'm in a car accident and my spine is almost severed. Thank goodness I live in the US, so I know I can get among the best care anyone can have. But I don't see emergency spinal surgery quality doctors for most things. I'm sometimes lucky to see a DOCTOR at all. Despite most of the time not seeing a doctor, and sitting in the same exam-room setup we've all sat in for decades, prices keep going up in ways that defy logic. We either figure out how to fix this or someone else will try. As more and more people give up on this nonsense and are willing to accept different nonsense we might get handed something even worse. And yes, I also have Aetna and all the lack of value they provide.

Last week I randomly got a $9,000 bill for a hospital visit from last year. I called them up and they said my insurance decided not to cover it. Why? Because. .@Aetna can just decide they’re not interested in covering something and then you’re left with an inflated bill to pay out of pocket after the fact. This is in addition to a $2,000 bill that I already paid. They just don’t want to cover it despite me paying a monthly premium. Meanwhile illegals get free healthcare. Honestly fuck you @Aetna. I’m gonna do everything I can to destroy you.

It's been 7 months since we had our baby and we're still receiving unexplained hospital bills in the mail. Hardly ever an adequate description of services. Just a QR code to pay online. It feels intentionally confusing and difficult to get answers. We want price transparency.

Hold on. In Matthew 1:21, the name is Ἰησοῦς but that's tough for people unfamiliar with the Greek to read, so the romanized Jesus is used. That's not an unreasonable way to represent the same name, same person, is it? Or, do we need the Hebrew so we can be OG? יְהוֹשׁוּעַ Or do we use the Aramaic which is most probably the closest phonetic rendition for the name? Which is probably: יֵשׁוּעַ None of the above changes the fact that we don't use either Greek or a Semitic / Hebrew-style alphabet, and we aren't in an age without 'J'. What's important is the ability to correctly identify about whom we're speaking. And even in your apparent pedantic proclivity you were able to understand the topic who is reference, right?

We pray in the name of Jesus, the very name God has given us to approach Him. It is through Jesus that our prayers are answered when we come in faith. Titles like “God” or “Allah” are general terms used to refer to a deity, and any deity can use the title. But God made Himself known to us in a personal and distinct way by giving us a specific name, Jesus, through whom we can come to Him. In doing this, He made Himself more personal and relatable to us.

My favorite kind of abortion is the kind that's safe, legal, accessible, and none of your damn business to regulate. And no amount of fearmongering by describing what goes on to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, self-awareness, or feeling of pain is going to change that.
Brandon Gill@realBrandonGill

Which abortion is your favorite? The one where the unborn baby's body is crush and sucked out with a hose or the one where the baby is cut apart with a knife? Please enlighten us.

You're right for the first part, but I was giving it for context. You ignored the rock, I think, which was my point. Perhaps I wasn't clear on that so I apologize if I created confusion. The rock, which Paul refers isn't about crossing the sea, it's about the water given to the Jews to sustain them. Numbers 20, the reference to Meribah. Paul is referring to Jesus as the rock with spiritual water, "and that rock was Christ." Christ was not a literal rock, though he did give spiritual water. And we then see the wine is also spiritual, and obviously not literal blood.

@Thezizzleman @IndianaBrunner That's St Paul engaged in typology, as is well established by linking Christian baptism to the crossing of the sea. It's not applicable to Christ's claim that "X is my body."

I think the point is summed in 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 "For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ." Here we have them all drinking the same spiritual food and all the same spiritual drink, and Paul states the rock Moses hit was Jesus. I don't know any group who thinks Jesus was really a rock to drink, or is there?

@IndianaBrunner I feel like you missed the entire point of my reply. Yes, "am" is a conjugation of "to be." Thats not the point. The point is the direction of the claim. Jesus compares Himself to many things symbolically, but he never calls something Himself except when He says "this is my body"
