@MatthewCappucci @EvanFor2020 I think it’s a severe case of recency bias and he’s trying to say that every tornado near a warm front is directly caused by climate change.
English

@EvanFor2020 I think you’re on the right track BUT we should refine phrasing.
A more nuanced, and correct, statement would be that, as warming ensues, we’re able to produce environments hospitable to tornadoes farther north in the cool season AND expand the temporal window in cool season.
English

People are obviously confused by this. More warmth and moisture the further north a warm front can travel meaning technically every storm since like the 2000's that rides that warm front would have been further north meaning the entire storm was caused by climate change

Technically, every storm that rides a warm front and produces a tornado is caused by climate change as it wouldn't have been there without the additional warming likely would've been more sound
English

@Emokwx Yea Im just going to assume you can't rebut and declare victory
English

@Emokwx Given my statement is entirely proven by atmospheric thermodynamics and what happens when you add 1.5c of warming and more moisture to one storm in comparison to the same storm with out that. I would say a rebuttal would be warrented.
English

@EvanFor2020 It’s a question not a counter argument. The claim is so unfounded that it’s not even worth my time to argue it lol
English

@Emokwx Is this your counter arguement? Unless you explain how my udnerstanding of atmospheric thermodynamics is wrong in this context Im just going to assume your bandwagoning for attention

@denaultdesign @LindseyDorris1 @gensiniwx Thank you both for your contributions! I hope the storm wasn’t too impactful to your properties.
English

@LindseyDorris1 @Emokwx @gensiniwx Congrats on the new record! I do believe the crown that my family held for a few days is now passed on to you. Wear it with pride... for SCIENCE!
English

Behold: the new new potential IL state record hailstone at ~6.6” from Kankakee, #ilwx. Professor @gensiniwx acquired it a couple days ago and is preserving it in a freezer at NIU. This stone (once confirmed) will hold the record hailstone size East of the Mississippi. Incredible

English

@MatthewCappucci Think of all the record stones you could find off lottery winnings though
English

If someone gave me the option of winning the Powerball or finding a record hailstone, I would 100% choose the latter.

@Lawrenc70687041 @oldscarf1stweek No that one is lost forever unfortunately
English

@Emokwx @oldscarf1stweek WAIT IS THIS THE ONE THAT WE THOUGHT WAS 8 inches
English

@plasticmattyy Sublimation does not occur on hailstones after they have formed. It’s all solid ice from the dry growth in the storm itself
English

@Emokwx does sublimation not occur? or am i missing a joke here
English

@KingAbbottman Yeah that would have been the world record stone no doubt. Seeing this one in person it’s hard to imagine one larger than that
English

@Emokwx God I wish we could of got the 8" stone saved. But oh well this is still MASSIVE
