Michael, what about your rights? I understand what you are trying to do. But focusing just on the TMCH will fall short. The TMCH protects an insignificant number of rights owners. What about your rights? What if someone impersonated Michael Michelini? You are not even eligible for a trademark. There needs to be a mechanism to address bad behavior. Full stop.

hi @EnCirca i'm working on an ai agent registrar for HNS .agent and want to respect trademarks- but my research says The Official System: ICANN TMCH In the traditional DNS world (like when .app or .ai launched), ICANN requires registries to use the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH)

Of course collisions will be caused by ICANN. But so what? The internet root is expanding. ICANN has been globally accepted as the legitimate body to award new extensions. Handshake's authority is self-appointed and recognized by no one. This is why it needs special browsers and plug-ins to work. Where ever a collision occurs, the global internet will ALWAYS defer to the ICANN root.

HNS is 100% compatible, everything has been patched. Any future collisions will be caused by icann. Correct @EnCirca ?

@xHNSTLD @mattgould Sorry no. Go back and listen to ANY one of my talks at the many Handycom conferences. My message has been the same: Web3 naming projects that refuses to acknowledge collision with the DNS root or accountability for bad actors will never go mainstream.

DNS domains now compose 90%+ of our business, and as we move to get several of our TLDs also listed in ICANN over the next few years our focus will continue to grow on the DNS and traditional internet market. We expect that 2-3 years from now DNS and the traditional web will be 99%+ of our business. For this reason you'll see updates on our site to reflect our new focus on traditional web2 domains. This is intentional. Web3 only domains were part of the crypto craze in 2021 but did not cross the chasm into mainstream usage. And for a while now we have believed they will remain a niche market now and into the future. They were a great place to start our journey into domains, but going forward our focus will be even more on the traditional market as it's the market that has crossed the chasm and is seeing mainstream usage.
