ANNOUNCEMENT 📢 N.B The African Union Themetic of Year 2024 will primarily focus on 📚𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 🎓 and undoubtedly have a strong emphasis on the role of youth in advancing education initiatives. 1. Africa has witnessed commendable strides in terms of access, completion, and quality of basic education with young girls' education having been prioritized. See @acerwc 2. Nevertheless, persistent gaps hinder the realization of objectives outlined in the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 (CESA 16-25). Furthermore, the quality of education is a big crisis, there remains a skills mismatch & need for de-colonised courses/ curriculum. @APRMorg Namibia Targeted Review on Youth Unemployment highlights some of the existing gaps and how they contribute to Youth Unemployment. 3. The AU educational focus of the year is anticipated to drive more robust action to address the Out of School Rate, particularly targeting those not enrolled in pre-primary, primary, secondary, or higher education levels. 4. The AU has outlined comprehensive strategies to elevate the quality of education and learning across the continent. In addition to the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA), key initiatives include 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 (STISA-2024), and the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (TVET). 5.
