Florida has no income tax, sports the smallest state government per capita, has reduced spending year over year for two years, and has paid down nearly 50% of the state’s all-time debt. Florida is the model for fiscal responsibility at the state level—and we want our local governments to follow suit.   Along with Florida CFO Blaise Ingoglia (@GovGoneWild), I announced that Manatee County will be subject to our new state DOGE audit. We're sending teams across the state to provide transparency on the way local governments are spending taxpayer money— especially considering that property tax revenue has surged into the coffers of local governments as homeowners continue to be stretched thin.   Our state is friendly to taxpayers, and we need to ensure that all local governments are as well.
