@RinnyTheGopher For a second I thought a talking fish was going to be the newest entrant for biofuel market coverage.

@bataille_chris Isn’t gasification GHG intensive? How does it compare to coke/coal pathways?

As a factual point of correction metallurgical coal is not essential for making iron & steel. In places with cheap natural gas (NA/ME) the default greenfield investment is now gas based direct reduction, which uses a syngas of H2&CO instead coal based CO as the primary reductant.
Heather Exner-Pirot@ExnerPirot

Remember how everyone used to hate oil and gas in Canada, and now they don’t? I think that will happen with metallurgical coal. Canada’s 2nd biggest mineral export, essential for steel, and in high demand from Asian allies: EU, USA and India have declared it a critical mineral. It’s time we did too. macdonaldlaurier.ca/canadian-coal-…

🇨🇳⛽️Chinese mobility data very healthy. Not what you'd expect to see if we were actually destroying petroleum product demand in China at a COVID-zero pace.

@Rory_Johnston Hope nobody needs diesel. Unless they’re refining at home and exporting. US can export gasoline feedstock or full slate made with also whth Canadian feedstock. Of course they aren’t saying that part out loud.

@EnergzdEconomy Will be seen in jet first, then distillates and fuel oil, then gasoline. PADD3 refineries will be busy.

Keep a close eye on the West Coast in the next 3 weeks. Chatter suggests problems with FCCs at Chevron Richmond & Valero-Wilmington, with speculation about nature of the "incident" at BP Washington refinery. Spot gasoline might scorch higher between now and mid-May.

Crude quality matters. There’s a reason there is a jet/kero and distillates price blow out compared to gasoline on the continent. The rest of the world is short middles because medium sour is cut off.

“The U.S. is capable to export up to 6.0 Mb/d, according to estimates from industry experts. Pipeline capacity and export infrastructure are the limiting factors. U.S. exporters have become very adept at maximizing exports.”
