@bashu_thanks I don’t think we normally count saying a single word (or even several words) as speaking. When one asks of another’s child, “is he speaking yet”, my experience is we’d get “no, but he knows a few words” or something similar :)

my brother claims his 10 month old son cannot speak.
HOWEVER, when he sees the cat, he says "ka! ka!" excitedly, and points at the cat, who runs away. I maintain that his first word is "cat". My brother says that does not count as speaking.

I've been gradually looking slightly less attractive over the last few years due to aging. I don't love this, and I think it's harder to handle due to spending so much of my life in an industry where appearances are vital.
