I've been to every continent, but Rwanda's homegrown solutions, such as Umushyikirano, are consistently the finest. Today, I loved H.E Paul Kagame's comment to @DrSenait's view regarding certain leaders who may delay making decisions and use the 'fear to fail or make mistakes' as an excuse, stating that leaders should instead dread the consequences of doing nothing/delaying things. All countries deserve a national dialogue like Umushyikirano, in which leaders are held accountable for their acts and citizens have the opportunity to ask and get responses from their leaders. #Umushyikirano2024 #RwOT 🇷🇼

You have to appreciate people like @nshimiemmy - we have been best friends over 10 years and working with you has made this amazing journey in Rwanda 🇷🇼 and East Africa so much more effortless. Good friends lead to good places. And now we have matching raincoats.

At some point in your life, you’ll feel like you’re losing the race. It’s important to realize there is no race, only different journeys, different timings, and different lessons meant for each of us. Your time will come for whatever it is. Have A Good Day!

The carbon market in sub Saharan Africa slumped this week - pretty insane. Transparency is continually needed along with project sustainability strategies to drive up standards and market confidence. 🌳

A new study has found that many creatives in Rwanda aspire to build sustainable businesses but face major barriers, including limited entrepreneurial skills, access to finance, equipment and market linkages. The assessment, conducted by Green Horizon Ventures and Creative Visions in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Arts, reviewed 245 applicants to the Arts Connekt Programme, a competition for creative entrepreneurs. Findings show that only 43 percent of respondents earn income solely from their art. Nearly half (47 percent) rely on additional income sources, while 10 percent reported earning nothing from their creative work. More than half (56 percent) have never received formal creative training. The gap is wider geographically: 60 percent of urban creatives have accessed training, compared to 38 percent in rural areas. Equipment and materials were cited as the top need, at 55 percent overall. Rural creatives were more affected, with 60 percent identifying it as a priority compared to 43 percent of urban respondents. @Entre_Adam @cvfoundation @ghvrwanda newtimes.co.rw/article/33610/…

Calling poets, painters, photographers, and performers: what will you thread? This #CommonwealthDay, we are creating the first virtual Commonwealth Quilt, a digital tapestry made from creative work across the Commonwealth. Inspired by Commonwealth Poet Laureate Selina Tusitala Marsh, we invite you to respond to a single prompt: ‘Thread’. Dancers thread movement between bodies. Musicians thread melody through rhythm. Painters thread colour. Storytellers thread narrative. Photographers thread light. What thread do you bring to the Commonwealth? We welcome submissions across visual, literary and performing arts, including painting, photography, poetry, music, dance, spoken word and short film. Both artists and non-artists can participate. You can submit as an individual or a group. All eligible submissions will be displayed in the virtual Commonwealth Quilt. Up to three submissions per region will be selected for a physical exhibition during the Commonwealth People’s Forum and will receive a £200 award. The submission window runs from 9 March to 9 May 2026. Sign up to learn more and find out how to take part: actionnetwork.org/forms/express-… #CommonwealthQuilt

Yesterday , I received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Embassy Kigali presented through the Exchange Alumni program of the U.S. Department of State for my leadership of the @YALIRwandachap This recognition means a lot, but honestly, it belongs to every person who showed up , the alumni who gave their time, and the community members who believed that education and engagement can actually change things. Being part of YALI has taught me that real impact isn't loud. It's consistent. It's showing up when it's inconvenient, opening doors for others before yourself, and trusting that small acts of service add up to something bigger. Thank you to the entire U.S. Embassy Kigali team for this acknowledgment. And thank you to my YALI family . You are the reason this work matters. We keep going. @GeorgeKosimbei
