I’ve been in the Army for close to 17 years and I have no idea what a tank is anymore.

🚨#BREAKING: Watch as a CSX freight train crashes into a semi-truck carrying a military army tank 📌#GooseCreek | #SouthCarolina Watch wild video captured earlier this afternoon in Goose Creek, South Carolina shows an 18-wheeler carrying a military tank getting stuck on railroad tracks and being struck by a CSX freight train. Numerous bystanders witnessed the incident. Officials reported that the truck, using a lowboy trailer to transport an M109 Paladin Howitzer tank, became stuck while crossing the tracks. The oncoming train collided with the truck, causing significant damage. 13 years ago, half a world away, Mike Garcia flipped a coin with the other EOD team leader on the base to see who would go on an IED call. Mike won the toss. He wanted to go.
I’ve never met an EOD technician who didn’t absolutely love getting to do their job. Mike was no exception. He was loved by his team, his unit, his family and friends.
He never came back from that call. Michael Garcia was KIA July 4th, 2011.

I never got to meet SSG Michael Garcia. He was my friend’s EOD Team Leader, and by all accounts one of the best EOD techs in country. He was known for always being there for his people, no matter what. KIA 04 July 2011 Wardak Province, Afghanistan We Remember

I’ll never forget the day this happened in 2004 to SPC me
An Iraqi brought a 155 type round w/ wires still attached that he found by the road TO ME when I was working in the Iraqi rail station in Baghdad. He said it “makes nose” (as he shook it) & I quickly asked him to leave our vicinity.

Congressionally designated, the first Saturday in May is National Explosive Ordnance Disposal Day. Every year on this day the multiservice EOD Memorial Ceremony is held at Eglin Air Force Base, where the EOD community comes together to remember our fallen EOD warriors. #EOD

This week, the EOD community will gather in Florida for our annual memorial, where we remember those EOD technicians who made the ultimate sacrifice. People will fly in from all over the world. There are all sorts of events. We will gather. We will laugh, and tell stories, but most importantly, We Remember.
I will try and share as much as I can on here. Hopefully you’ll stick around for the ride. The EOD community is more than just a community; it’s a family.
