Just wrapped up an energizing #SABCS2025 - so many important updates in breast cancer. I was honored to collaborate with Dr. Mohammad Jahanzeb @OncDocMJ, and moderate a PRECISCA session alongside Dr. Ruth O'Regan @oreganruth and Dr. Haruka Itakura, discussing the latest advances.

My mentor and colleague @MayoClinic Dr. Ayalew Tefferi will be honored with the Giants of Cancer Care Award @OncLive tomorrow. #ASCO25 Dr. Tefferi and I work together as Editors of @BloodCancerJnl He is one of the most influential and amazing educators in medicine.

@VincentRK I am an IMG from Ethiopia. The majority of the cases I saw when I was rotating in EM as an internal medicine resident were what I wouldn’t even see in a rural hospital in Ethiopia. Very easily treatable cases which should be treated elsewhere or by non-MD healthcare professionals

A friend with an acute scalp injury needing multiple stitches waited in a big city emergency room yesterday for 5 hours to get treated. Unfortunately this is quite the norm in the US. Why? 1/

Had a fantastic time at @precisca_ 2024! Truly one of my favorite conferences of the year being able to meet and interact with some of the leaders in our field and catching up with colleagues and friends, being part of the expert panel, and sharing my experience with fellows.

@AhJemal @AhJemal This is sad actually. I firsthand witnessed patients which had to wait for over a year to get their first radiotherapy treatment. Even worse, most of these machines are down half the time. @WashUOnc @WUHemeOncFellow

Stark geographic inequality in the availability of radiotherapy. One radiotherapy machine for <17 thousand individuals in high-income countries compared to for about 17 million individuals in low-income countries, a thousand fold difference. cancer.org/research/cance…
