Identifying ourselves as Christians is foundational to our identity in Christ. Denomination can be helpful because what we believe the Bible teaches on subjects like baptism, the Lord's Supper, church governance, liturgy, Israel and the Church, etc should matter on a secondary level. Even if a church is considered "non-denominational", every church and every Christian operates with some kind of a theological system, even if it’s an informal or unspoken one. Either way, it's good think about this Mira!

Super duper random long text wall cause my brain go brrrr and I can’t sleep, and also a pdf if anyone is interested in reading through my scrambled thoughts in more depth Lolol I love my non denominational church but I’m starting to think I’m not non denominational. I know it shouldn’t matter that much as long as I’m just trying my best to follow Jesus and His teachings, besides, I do feel this is the church that God wants us in right now, (I felt called there and the pastor and people are so incredibly loving and wise, you can feel their love for Christ) and I think that denomination isn’t at all what’s most important. But I still have that curiosity, and I don’t really know WHAT denomination I am because I feel like my beliefs don’t align exactly with any denomination. I’ve considered myself non denom the past few years because I just don’t like aligning myself with a denomination, I don’t think they were ever intended. 1 Corinthians 1:10 and also because I’ve grown up mostly going to Baptist churches and the beliefs are similar typically. While I want to know what denomination my beliefs are closest to, I just want to be called a Christian or Christ follower, I don’t want people to define me by denomination and be under labels, but of course everyone is gonna pay attention to labels more these days anyway, and not look beyond those things, I notice that a lot. But I don’t think we should be so separated :( My brother and I were chatting today and he actually told me that he’s thinking he might be Lutheran, and when I told him I wasn’t sure what my denomination was but that I consider myself non denominational usually. He was telling me about how him personally, the issue he has with non denom is the further schism it causes, which while he believes it’s something that is forgiven it still causes further division. (Idk I’m paraphrasing he could tell you more haha) he also told me from what he knows he thinks I might be closer to Presbyterian then non denom, which could be true but I dunno. Again I know it’s not what’s important, denomination isn’t what saves someone. And I respect you no matter what Christian denomination you are in. But it’s still something I feel I should know! I also don’t like how people automatically think that non denominationals are always just people who don’t take things seriously, always just strip malls (not that there’s anything wrong with that but that’s a different conversation) and allow sin into their congregation, etc. I don’t like being put in with stereotypes like that 🫠 Though people will stereotype you no matter where you align best to be fair, but I feel people don’t take you as seriously. I don’t wanna be wishi washi, I just want to grow closer to my savior in a way that suits me best. Sorry I’m kinda just yapping, late night thoughts go brrrrrrr I feel like I’m kinda just talking into the void but if anyone has any thoughts on this feel free to share! I love hearing others opinions even if I don’t agree.
