@shipwreckedcrew saw another post where people could use their EBT to buy food and then buy a package to ship it out of the country.

We need to stop EBT cards and electronic transfers of funds for public assistance programs. Go back to physical manifestations of being on public assistance -- standing in lines, dealing with govt bureaucrats in state and local offices, using a form of payment that requires separate handling from the general public. Make it more INCONVENIENT -- not easier. Then you'll have less of it.

@Jensen_Utah Data centers and their tax base (even w/ a discount) is desirable to local govts and there is competition to get them.

If the data center is 1. 100% privately funded (no bonds, no taxes, etc) 2. Using water shares from the existing land / privately obtained water shares (not shares made from thin air randomly) 3. Creating it's own electricity 4. Not government entangled/influenced 5. Paying the same taxes/rates as everyone else the entire time Then sure, build it. The second you start offering a 92% tax reduction I'm going to oppose it, regardless of the industry.

Today's VRA decision is intellectually dishonest and wrong. The conservatives basically said: Black people can vote for their preferred candidates, as long as they prefer the right candidates -- which will be Republicans. An absolutely mockery of the law and stain on the court.
